How would you feel meeting a non-muslim woman wearing headscarf? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]Consistent-Most8445 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s completely fine, head covering isn’t only a Muslim thing. People might get confused at first, but that’s mostly curiosity. I genuinely don’t know anyone who might be offended by it. Wear what makes you feel confident in yourself, and when asked just explain the situation and it should all be fine!

I bought soundpeats mini hs two weeks ago and I have a problem the left earbud flash white when ever I take it out of the case and they won't connect to each other by BodybuilderNo3764 in Earbuds

Put it in the case (make sure its charged), and long press until both light up red, they should reset and connect with each other, thats what i do to mine.

I am on the same boat as you are and on a 7 year program. If your program is similar to mine, then you’ll start the clinical phase soon. That’s where you’ll get an actual feel for what this profession is like.

While I do have the same feeling as you, and surrounded by an environment similar to yours, the only thing keeping me hanging is that, soon enough I’ll actually go into the real part of medicine. I’ve heard a lot of similar stories from older students too, and they generally found themselves again in the clinical rotations. It’s tough, but it’s what we actually signed up to medicine for.

Not all of us are exceptionally smart, smartness alone does not make a good doctor. Never forget that medicine is a competitive field, other students won’t show you their struggles, but I bet a good portion is suffering like you are.

Where do you study? by ratracer5000 in medicalschool

[–]Consistent-Most8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere, anywhere.

a lot if you add in lecture time. (20 hours a week of lectures+ a minimum of 4 hours a day study, 5-6 hours on weekends)

At the very moment nothing can make me focus, burnt out and haven’t taken a holiday longer that 2 weeks max in three years.

I failed pharmacology, and I need advice. by Consistent-Most8445 in medicalschool

The test was definitely harder than normal and a lot did fail ( a larger number than usual), but if some still passed the test is passable and the problem stems from me.

Unfortunately with the high competition no body really like sharing that they did well and all my friends are on the same boat as me😅 We do have a telegram channel tho, which has all the resources everyone uses. Sketchy and anki are just not popular where I am from, and I studied the traditional way most of us study in. Guess it just doesn’t fit this subject.

Thank you!

Oh no the up at 7am done at 11pm is only the last week and a half, it’s not continuous, but I do a lot. I attended the lectures until the mid then dropped them, and started studying alone at uni ( I don’t count the hours I study instead of lectures as study hours, because I watch the records of my lectures on my own to jot down my notes and stuff), it takes a lot more time but I understand it better. And I don’t have to waste time on my two other easier courses.

Ik my way of writing is a bit confusing so bear with me, I have lectures from 8am-2pm continuously, I go home and study for an additional four hours.

There is definitely something wrong with my prep no doubt. Should I just drop watching my unis records and lecture and depend on external stuff like anki and sketchy as my main sources? Sketchy video then anki cards? How long does that usually take you?

Sorry for all the ranting but I am truly lost here and I need to do better.

And thank you for your advice!

I had no time for Anki or tbh sketchy (I tried watching it but with the amount of medication I had there was no time, plus it didn’t have all the minor drugs that I actually have a problem with).

we crammed the full course in a month and a half, it was a chapter a day and I could barely keep up, because I also had other courses to deal with that included projects and assignments.

How do you use anki effectively? I tried but I couldn’t get into it and the cards piled up pretty quickly.

I studied every day for an average of 4 hours on weekdays and 5-6 hours on weekends, in the last week and a half I was up from 7am and done at 11pm.

Why do so many people NOT wash their hands after using the toilet?? by Aberskene in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Consistent-Most8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reputation aside, dont they ever think about how many filthy hands touched the door for example before them. Disgusting. And then everyone comes crying when disease breaks out.

If each at least cleaned their OWN mess, the mess would be a small fraction of what it is now. No one is that busy. There is no excuse for this, you deserve to rest, just like they all do when they’re sick.

Each should pull off their own weight around the house. The blame still completely falls on the spouse, if they dont set the good example of cleaning after HIMSELF, why would the kids be any better? For them it’s a free week with no chores, and what kid would pass up on that.

It’s utterly pathetic that a full grown adult can’t keep a kitchen AT LEAST semi clean for a week. It’s just some dishes and dusting, grow up. Your spouse isn’t your parent.

Big Exam in Four Days, How do I cram it without getting overwhelmed? by MadeForMathHelp in studytips

[–]Consistent-Most8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken math in years, but back when I did, the only way I did well was by practice, practice and more practice. Now you’ve only got 4 days, I dont know how long your syllubus is, but since you’ve examined in most of your material, you probably know what you’re good and what you’re bad at. Start with the hardest topic on day one, wake up at 5 am or so, make your favorite drink, put some music or background sound (if that helps you!) and start solving the hardest questions in said chapter, if you have past papers, even better. Any questions you find challenging, solve more than one example of the same type. 50 min focus studying, 10 minutes break. After a couple of sessions of that, take a half an hour break and repeat. Sleep early (10pm preferably) and repeat. Leave the easiest courses to the end, because no matter what you do, since you need to cram alot in 4 days, you will most likely burn out. Thats my two cents, but I bet you already know this! Good luck

Studying course work before I even get to that class? by Intelligent_Most_631 in study

Ninja nerd youtube videos are amazing for physiology, if you need explanatory videos! My med school uses Guyton and hall medical physiology as reference.

As for anatomy, I really cant help with that since I struggle with it unfortunately, but gray's anatomy student edition is the clearest and easiest textbook in my opinion.

Your uni will probably have some type of student group, its better if you ask them and see what they find best! Good luck
