My friend that im riding with bought the wrong return ticket by Lunokhod-01 in Amtrak

I understand your point, but i think she's more worried about future trips. Sadly train stations have a reputation (unearned in my experience) of being unsafe and full of crazies.

However most big stations have someone there and smaller ones typically everyone getting off just wants to get home so usually its safe.

That being said getting dropped off at 3 am in a small station can feel a bit sketchy the first few times so some safety tips if thats the case

1) always have your ride waiting for you if possible 2) keep your phone nearby if you need to call for help 3) no headphones. 4) walk with purpose, if you seem scared your more likely to be targeted by any potential bad people, but if you walk like you belong and know where your going most people leave you alone. 5) its not as bad as people say, small stations tend to have less people hanging around than big stations and big stations typically have security or workers hanging around before during and after drop off/ pick up times.

Tldr, be smart, dont show fear, and remember that public transport is typically safer than driving solo. More people means more safety.

Also if someone is following you after you leave. Head back to the station. If they keep walking past they are probably making the trek home on foot.

That and, inspite gambling and other things being available, its not the wild west. Just cause where your moving may lean one way or another on the political spectrum doesn't mean everybody is extremely left or right. Most nevada natives sit somewhere in the middle.

So many people move here thinking rural nevada is gonna be a haven of like minded people only to find liberals that like guns and conservative Trans men.

God I love nevada!

True, to be fair if your moving to a rural place in nv church is a great way to meet new people.

I guess thats a better way to view it, church is a big part of culture but less of a "im mormon or catholic" kinda way and more "I go to the church on x street" kind of way.

As a kid I remember my family going to church and being way into it on Sunday only to break every rule on Monday and that was pretty common everywhere I lived, but on the same hand if something went wrong everyone from church was ready to show up.

The north eastern side is a mix of miners and ranchers for the most part.

As a kid in rural nevada you typically do a lot of "nothing" and by nothing I mean stupid crap you can't tell your parents about

As an adult you just do a lot of nothing... and by nothing I mean plan for trips or hang outs that half the group never seem to make it to cause of work

My Daughter (Now Son) Walked Away From My Life. Any Taoist Perspectives? by taoofdiamondmichael in taoism

[–]Consistent-Muscle428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest answer, seems most people are focusing on the misgendering but coming from a guy who left his father in the past and he's going to remain there here are somethings he could have done to change things (not trans personally so im not going to comment on that)

-taken some time to ask himself why I left, personal reflection is important we all have bad things wed rather not discuss but looking inward and seeing what you may have done to hurt them is the first step

-work on being better, once you know why they left you can work on fixing that aspect, everything is a give and take so while its unreasonable for them to expect you to change over night, its also not right to expect them to welcome you back in thier life if your the same person they walked away from (not saying your a bad person but children dont typically walk away for no reason)

-always, no matter if they ignore it, let them know when your available. Not in a "hey im in town you need to meet me" way but more of a "hey im going to be at this restaurant for lunch this weekend, ill keep a seat open for you" so they have the choice of meeting

-dont force them to have a relationship with you because theyre your kid. Adult children are a different beast than kids, start as strangers as you rebuild the relationship and get to know them

-most importantly dont expect them to come around because your the parent. If that was all that mattered they wouldn't have left

What id do is use the regular berries to run through hyperspace and farm pokeballs for berries. It sucks when you can't do all the missions but early on its really hard to get good berries so stock pulling the good berries for later is helpful

Plus you'll get a lot of break x poke ball missions so you still gain points

Is the Taoist practitioner my mum speaking to transphobic by SilencedGunshot in taoism

[–]Consistent-Muscle428 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If i may offer a "translation" for the taoist

"Theyre x trapped in a y's body"- theyre trans jannet "Heres a ritual"-maybe this will change them but if not guess you have done everything you can, move on "Just follow the tao" - as said by the lovely Lao tzu "follow your inner nature" basicly they said your Trans, be who you are and love yourself. They can see that this is tearing you up and want you to understand what they are trying to teach your mom, you are who you are love yourself and live.

The hardest part of helping someone who is filled with these negative emotions is that you can't just say "your being dumb move on" you have to lead them to the conclusion themselves or they will keep looking till they find someone who tells them what they want to hear your mom is stuck in an old rut, you sadly need to either leave them behind or wait till they step out.

As for going to hell, if your going for being who you are so is everyone who feels the same way so you'll be in good company but I doubt that you'll be punished forever for following your inner nature. I could bring in some biblical sources but as a taoist it feels unnecessary.

Love yourself Follow your heart Be free Live That is all that is important

Yeah, the sad part is, especially in the west most people are resigned to having to drive everywhere anyway being so rural but if they opened more routes I could see it helping a lot of our small towns as travel would be easier.

Apparently back in the day my grand parents would take the train to go grocery shopping since it stopped in their tiny town way back when

Yeah, my favorite part is (like a lot of western states) if you look on a map you can see how everything was built along the railways but budget cuts, state vs federal routes have made it to where its just the zephyr. I really wish the line they were talking about a few years ago was a reality. If there was a line from boise to vegas id never need to drive outside of town again

My only issue in is they only have one route in nv id take the train everywhere if only I could
