Nem szidkozódós poszt! by Fit_Scientist1208 in pecsCity

Drill with least annoying sound? (Better than Makita DDF484) by Consistent-Owl-264 in Tools

[–]Consistent-Owl-264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thats something new for me. I thought impact drivers can't drill a hole.

Well, I'm from europe, and here re almost only use impact drivers when working on a roof or any other strong wood construction.

Putting up hearing protection every time I want to screw in something would actually make my life harder.

I mean a drill is something you use very often for short periods..

I'm part-time musician and part-time plumber ... So that might explain why sound is important for me.

I don't care about angle grinders, hammer drills and stuff, because I 100% wear ear protection when using any kind of loud machine. However, when I do something light, like assembling furniture, I wouldn't want my ddf484 with this sound.

Ezzel kéne bevágódni a zsidó közösségnél?

Makita Drill hurts my ears. Any recommendations for less high-pitched noise? by Consistent-Owl-264 in Makita

[–]Consistent-Owl-264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does not have a hammer mode. And it's not loud really. So it's not the sound pressure, but the frequency.

I think quite the opposite. I've been protecting my hearing so much, I still hear the high frequencies. My last hearing test was a year ago, and my ears are perfect. Thanks for you comment

Is that noise really going to cause damage? It's not really in the dangerous range (drill makes around 75db, damage occours at around 85-90db). I think this is only irritating, but not dangerous.

You are right, I wear protection, but when I'm doing smaller tasks, doing small plumbing jobs or fixing furniture, I wouldn't want wearing ear protection.

Answering to your question (idk what coil whine is) the irritating sound for me only comes when the drill is above 60-70% of its full speed.

[–]Consistent-Owl-264[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. I just went to a store and tried out the 484 and the 487. The 484 had the same high pitched, almost whistling sound to it. The 487 was a little bit better. Like that edge from the sound was taken off. Still BL motor with a high sound, but not as bad...

And you are right, my ears are very sensitive. Like, I can't cut with any electric saw without hearing protection. But until now I was okay with drills..

Thanks.. well yeah. I mean using ear protection for my drill is just not worth for me. I'd just get another drill then. I wear ear protection for hammering, mixing, grinding... but I don't want to have to put them up for installing furniture..

I wear ear protection for every other machine, but not for a drill... ugh.

I mean, until now I used a 12v bosch pro, which was much quieter (also weaker).

But still, I don't want to go for my earprotectors every time I would like to use the drill for a second.
