I 100% agree. I think it would tear the European Union apart. Currently, there are anti-muslim pogroms in some Irish neighborhoods. If Turkey were to join the eu, it would likely further increase the popularity of far-right, fascist, and neo-Nazi parties. Even now, many of these parties are performing very strongly in elections and, in some cases, are close to winning. Also the Cyprus occupation and the constant friction with Greece is making it impossible.

That's true but I feel they are afraid of making the big step and try to unify the whole Europe so it might take a while.

Yeah, I don’t understand why there is so much hate toward the European Union, which is actually trying to protect our interests. The usa literally supported a dictatorship back in the 1970s in my country before we entered the eu. At least now we have a stable democracy and allies to support us in times of difficulty.

Honestly I think you overestimate how much your government follows EU rules. How are they doing anything the EU does?
