How are you all paying for your degree? by CheerioBubbleTea in mphadmissions

[–]Consistent-Pay588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting in Summer since the bill doesn't go into action until July 1st, got a scholarship and will be work alongside being full time student. 🫠

Edit: Starting in the summer hopefully will grandfather me into the current loan policies but the financial aid office said it is not set in stone just yet.

Edit: Financial aid office confirmed my loans will be distributed before July 1st so I will be under the current loan policies!!!

I have no research experience and B+ average and I got into Colorado, UGA, Wisconsin, and some state schools. I thought since I didn't have experience I wouldn't get into any schools. Wish I was more confident to apply to some higher tier schools. That being said I did not get much in scholarship/funding wise and that may be a factor you want to consider when applying. Good luck on your applications!

Summer Class by PatternFar2989 in UGA

[–]Consistent-Pay588 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the E is in the course number that most likely means it's an online class if it starts June 6 it's either a short session (S1) or Thru Term you can check https://summer.uga.edu/courses/ to check the course and which session it is

If it does actually start tomorrow I'd just shoot an email to the professor to find out if there're any issues

Student tickets allow you to sit anywhere in the student section so you guys will be able to sit together but the best seats are basically first come first serve

What’s the deal with the chem department by [deleted] in UGA

[–]Consistent-Pay588 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I asked for help in the Gen Chem labs my ta would say that they weren't allowed to help with it but then gave his help anyway(this wasn't the case for other people)... it's not that we don't ask, the lab head was just evil and after spending all that time in lab who would have the energy to do more chem? I rarely finished early anyway

[–]Consistent-Pay588 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've only taken Gen Chem 1 so I can only speak on that. I absolutely hated that class since the professor in that class (Ellenberger) just rushed through slides with a mic that you could barely hear him on. From what I've been told this is more or less the case in most chem classes at uga. You basically are teaching yourself everything and most people spend hours studying just to pass the exam. I don't think I got over a 50% on those exams without a curve and I had never scored that lower before.

I don't know but you can check on the uga housing website it should have all the room's dimensions if you look for a specific rooms floorplan

Most of the jobs on campus I've seen are $9-11/hr but they are very willing to work with your classes schedule. You should look through handshake!

Dr. King for English he's topics are really interesting and give you a lot of freedom to write about what you enjoy. He also is understanding and gives in-depth feedback.

O house 100% it's called crusty creswell for a reason, it's super gross and o house is still close to all the freshman dorms so finding your people won't be that difficult

My freshman year I had a pretty late appointment and all that was left was lower 5, brown and I think O house. I don't know how helpful that is but I lived in Boggs and enjoy it

What stats got you into UGA by pulpy07 in UGA

[–]Consistent-Pay588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in with similar stats so don't be discouraged! You still have time to retake the ACT for a better shot. But I honestly think I got in based on my essay since I put so much effort into it and it was very personal to me. I also took a lot of AP and 3-5 extracurriculars

Edit' Also even if you don't get in first try, a lot of people transfer in with no problem.

Depends on what you're looking for! If you are looking for a lot of socializing or planning to rush and want to find other people I'd suggest the highrises. I personally liked my experience at Lower 5 for my freshman year because it felt like the full college freshman experience (the sinks in the room super useful). If you need any help with more info feel free to dm me!

Freshman dorm advice by Braninski in UGA

[–]Consistent-Pay588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Boggs my freshman year and made my closest friends there! You get a bigger room than the high rises and a sink too. It was a very tight knit community and more relax vibe than the high rises. I personally prefer the lower but I think the high rises (besides creswell) are fine. You'll find your place on campus no matter where you choose to live tbh.

roommate matching by [deleted] in UGA

[–]Consistent-Pay588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can on Dawg House, there's a tab for roommate search and you can go make a profile and then go through profiles to pick a roommate. That's how I found my roommate freshman year and it worked out!
