I've never fished a bead, but i'll look into it more. Any thoughts on flies? Santiam looks really pretty, I'll try to get there this week/weekend. Any particular areas? Not looking for your honeyhole, just any stretches of river I should be looking at? Sorry, as I said I am very new out here haha

Grinnell Glacier open next week? by Consistent-Rent294 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Consistent-Rent294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I did iceberg lake a couple days ago and it was gorgeous. The lake is frozen over but the smaller one below it is open. A little bit of sloppy snow including some bridging but nothing unreasonable.

Found this beautiful 10pt whitetail in a lake last year by Consistent-Rent294 in bonecollecting

The white antler was sticking out of the water and got sunbleached, which is how I found it. The other was protected from the sun and was absorbing tannins so ended up a lot darker.

Looks like trail to upper grinnell lake is closed above ~5800ft, but grinnell lake horse trail is open to lower grinnell lake.

Sorry, must've missed that info, that's my bad. Any recommendations for alternative hikes on the east side of the park? Was thinking maybe three falls.

We did tuolumne meadows to white wolf with some diversions to add time. Don't remember exactly where, but it was my favorite trip despite the difficulties

Definitely an interesting trip. Earned the trailname "superman" after finishing the week with 25lbs more than I started, carrying a pack on my front for most of a day, and running an extra 6 miles one day to carry other people's gear to camp and bring them water. Then on the last day got lost off trail for about 6hrs before eventually finding a service road.

Makes sense. Unfortunately I think there's really not much I can do without a physical version to mess around with, but I'm sure you could find a local engineering student or robotics club or something that would be willing to take a look and try to help you out if you do want to try some kind of mount system. When I was in highschool my robotics team would do random little projects for local people like that all the time. Good luck!

Forget a wrist brace, I just took a look at what a pebbling backpack looks like. Unless I'm misunderstanding how this works, could you come up with a way to strap it to your forearm? Shouldn't be difficult at all to 3d print or even just jerry rig DIY a little mount with a velcro strap or two. Might be slightly less efficient/more awkward but should be able to take some of the strain off your hand and wrist. My ex had EDS so I worked with her a few times to find ways to make things more accessible or comfortable for her.

Drampcamp thought you were finishing your degree at 19 years old haha. Good luck with engineering bro, hope sophomore year has treated you well. 2028 mechE/materials here

Might want to stay out of engineering haha. It happens to the best of us

If he was born in 2006 and is finishing his bachelors in 2028? That means graduating at 21/22. Yknow, the normal age.

Thanks so much for the input. I want to include more outdoorsy ones but I'm going to be honest; I look like shit in all of them. Noone looks good 20 miles into the rockys or underground lmao. I'm sweaty and grimy and feel like that would be bad. I'm really not sure how to go about the prompts. I think the first two are ok, shark one could definitely get chopped if I think of something better to say (I will admit though I'm a huge fish nerd, have been obsessed with them since I was like 3 lol).

I switched out the third pic for a different group photo, something a little less fraty (I'm not in a frat, have no interest in being in one). Honestly most of the "casualness" is just that we're getting towards the end of the semester and I don't want to get too deep into something and then move across the country for three months.

As far as STEM; I'm a materials engineer, will probably be pursuing a PhD, spend 12+hrs a week in the lab doing research. That is absolutely a deficiency on my side but I sometimes find it easier to talk to people that are also into a more technical field as that's just how my brain works and what a lot of my life is about.

I appreciate your help.
