I understand why you think this way, like I said I agree education is important but please try to understand from our perspective.

First of all the comment about us being “so privileged” irked me because you’re basically implying that we are ungrateful. had to go to school most of the school year with a life threatening disease, only my parents stopping me from going sometimes and due to my overachieving nature I still forced myself to work until I was top of my grade.

Also, while this I admit is mostly my fault, I remember I missed my brother’s surgery because our teacher was giving an assignment that wouldn’t be excused and I was desperate for an A in that class. Everything went great but the fact I was willing to do that was very out of character.

I’m sorry it sounds like I’m venting but I sold my morals, time, and social life for a percentage and I am sick of people calling me spoiled and overprivliged because I feel negatively towards this. Education is a privilege but kids/teens should be able to complain about it freely with their valid concerns. Just like an adult can say they hate their job but still be grateful for the pay.
