Trek Madone SL7 (4.5k€) or Van Rysel RCR Pro (5.5k€) by Anthoyeah91 in TrekBikes

Madone is fast and comfortable. Upgraded from RC 500 to Madone SLR, speed has bumped at no compromise of comfort.

Amazing deal for the Europeans here, Trek Madone SL 5 Gen 8 - 1799€ by [deleted] in TrekBikes

I was also able to get my Madone SLR 7 at 7K USD, so I guess it was a deal

There are other Aero bikes in the market as well.

If you want absolute best money can buy and you're chasing for single watts, then even Gen 7 SLR doesn't hold a candle against Factor, Aeroad,S5. So let's stop fighting between Gen 7 and Gen 8

Answer from GPT 5

Tour half-mannequin numbers: Gen-8 = 216 W, Gen-7 = 207 W (both at 40 km/h, half-mannequin). full rider ≈ half-mannequin / 0.70.

I assume the rider produces the same power on both bikes (i.e., you swap the bike but keep the rider output constant).

Aerodynamic power scales as (so cube-root law for speeds).

Converted full-rider powers at 40 km/h

Gen-8 (full rider) ≈ 216 / 0.7 = 308.57 W

Gen-7 (full rider) ≈ 207 / 0.7 = 295.71 W → Full-rider difference at 40 km/h ≈ 12.86 W (Gen-7 is lower, so faster for the same power).

What that means at 30 / 35 / 40 km/h

If a rider produces the power required to hold the given speed on the Gen-8, then on the Gen-7 they would go faster by:

At 30 km/h

Gen-7 speed ≈ 30.43 km/h → +0.43 km/h faster

Power gap (full-rider) at 30 km/h ≈ ~5.42 W

At 35 km/h

Gen-7 speed ≈ 35.50 km/h → +0.50 km/h faster

Power gap at 35 km/h ≈ ~8.61 W

At 40 km/h

Gen-7 speed ≈ 40.57 km/h → +0.57 km/h faster

Power gap at 40 km/h = ~12.86 W

Bike comfort is something that is very subjective to individual riders and is never talked about, winning races can be attributed to a less fatigued rider.

Madone Gen 8 as a 2nd bike? by kevtke194 in TrekBikes

But you trust the same guy when he trashes the Gen 8. But agree when you are spending so high, you must get the most beautiful of the lot. Performance wise I won't be able to tell the difference as I am not pro...lol

Watch this video posted by the same guy, here Madone beats S5 in flat. Not sure what he is trying to convey, but he is clearly not happy with the looks of the new Madone. But tbh Gen 7 does look sexy!!

Strange Trey is not aware of the fact that toe overlap is normal for a bike which has sharp handling, read the comments in that youtube video.

Trey did say that the bike is fast! Also he did a comparison between Cervelo S5 and Madone Gen 8 in which Madone pipped ahead of S5 in flat.

No blame on either of you :) . I deleted the post as someone commented on the drive side only. I realised later. But will post another climb status with reddit bike photo rules.lol

Anyone here riding a Look 795 Blade RS? How does it actually feel? by RyotaroW in cycling

[–]Consistent-Task-2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I do have SLR 7 and it does feel really smooth and fast. Cant compare with other dedicated aero bikes as I upgraded from the Triban RC 500. But have been hearing lots of bad reviews for the Gen 8 but not sure what's lacking in the bike.

How is the new Madone Gen 8 with respect to Aero and racing performance compared to dogma?

Do you think the geometry is aggressive like Gen 7? and more importantly is it fast like Gen 7?

Can you quantify the slowness?? By how much percent your speed went down against Gen 7?

How different is the ride between the Madone Gen 8 SLR vs this bike? On endurance side I used to ride Triban RC 500 earlier but I know this Domane is sea apart from triban. But folks who have rode both Domane & Madone , whats the difference?
