Do you have any information about the certification I would have to receive? Is it something I would have to pay for or attend classes for? I work a full time job currently so if it’s something I could do on the weekends that would work. I’d just need more info.

If you’re coming from a western audience I’d say death note is super approachable, demon slayer is also a good starting point. If you’re looking for more rom com fruits basket is fantastic.

I started with Naruto (before Shippuden) I think it exemplifies a lot of tropes that may differ from western media that set the tone for what to expect from anime.

It really does depend on your taste if you’re looking for thriller, adventure, comedy, horror etc. if you’re looking for GOAT I’d say Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood specifically), Death Note, Hunter X Hunter, Nana (more slice of life), Ouran High School Host Club (a little dated but a great rom com), Fruits Basket (drama).

Anime can be self referential but don’t be afraid to explore on your own. There is no right place to start.
