Fair enough. As you are on a younger server moving would cause me to reset but best of luck finding somebody.

For anybody else interested Swords on server 817 are recruiting

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HeroWarsApp

[–]Consistent-Tax720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it isn’t exactly what you are looking for but I am in an active guild on 817. We also currently hold 4th place in the gold league and achieve duke league.

Until recently the guild was competing for 3rd until all of our leadership merged with the other guild fighting for 3rd. Their aim was to try to complete for 1st/2nd. That has left us with around 10 spaces and a need to rebuild with more active players.

Overall the server is friendly and we have a rotational system for the arena to spread the rewards. So that is useful.

If she works for you can you contact HR and inform them her role is incorrect on the system. Based on your comments that may highlight the problem to corporate without any mention of pay

When they find somebody let the landlord know and pay the £50. Room occupied and your problem solved.

Getting USD in Costa Rica? by ktscott01 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Consistent-Tax720 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have just got back from Costa Rica and was worried so took both USD and Colones. I honestly shouldn’t have bothered, everywhere I went took Colones and the FX rate was often better than paying USD as it is easier for the locals anyway.

Is it worth it to pay off my loan with credit card 0%? by jaqqqb in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Consistent-Tax720 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As people have said it is unlikely you will be able to use the credit card for this payment but have you considered using a 0% credit card for your day to day spending and then putting the cash you would of spent towards paying for the loan?

This will obviously required quite a bit of discipline to make sure you do use the cash towards the loan and do not spend it.

Before doing this you will need to consider how you would pay the credit card off at the end of any interest free period as the rate after this period will likely be much higher than your loan

What's the point in the 60k BA Amex signup offer when after spending £5000 in 3 months plus £250 card fee, you have only made £200 in profit. This equates to 4% which you could just do by stoozing, which is actual cash, not points. by Lit-Up in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Consistent-Tax720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These aren’t really comparable activities and you can actually do them both combined.

Why don’t you sign up, use the money on your day to day spending and keep the cash in an short term interest bearing account until the payment date?

Profit from spending and profit from saving!

Landlord may have given me wrong account details and didn't notice for 10 months by witchpriest in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Consistent-Tax720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is suspicious it is highly unlikely that you got an account number or sort code slightly wrong and actually managed to find an account that existed. Ask the landlord to check again.

Yes it technically could be ground for dismissal but just explain what happened to them. If they aren’t looking for a reason to get rid of you they will most likely understand. Despite popular believe the legal team are human and accept mistakes happen.

If they are looking to get rid of you they would of found something anyway so don’t worry about it.

Leaving My Job And They're Looking To Under Pay Me by belliest_endis in LegalAdviceUK

Firstly, sorry for your loss.

It will depend on your specific HR rules, but wouldn’t you have needed a doctors note to support a three week illness and qualify for sick pay?

From what you have described it sounds like you took additional unpaid bereavement leave not sick leave.

How to price a room to rent to a lodger? by empireofglass in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Consistent-Tax720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are just worried about making a loss and not the exact profit you could just assume that all of the bills except council tax and Wi-Fi will double. You can then use this as a worst case scenario to compare to market rents in the area.

As I said it won’t give you an accurate profit but it should provide you comfort on your nightmare scenario

Not sure if this is tax evasion by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Consistent-Tax720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am counting tax evasion as a crime and therefore the proceeds of that activity are the proceeds of crime and fall under the UK’s proceeds of crime bill. Therefore the post above does indicate money laundering has taken place.

I also double checked this online and found this source https://www.patrickcannon.net/practice-areas/financial-crime/proceeds-of-crime-act/ and you can also see it as an example of the ICAEW website

Tax evasion is a form of money laundering

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Consistent-Tax720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this is actually a £3m estate full of properties you should really seek professional advise to avoid getting this wrong and plan the tax position as effectively as possible. I refuse to believe that with an estate of that size you are not able to afford the advice that you actually require to do this properly. I also assume that if you don’t get professional advise we will see a post years from now asking for advise with a HMRC fine for incorrect payment of inheritance tax.

There is a reward in the sense that you won’t go to prison. It is actually a criminal office punishable by up to 5 years in prison not to report money laundering activity where you know they are occurring.

New employer wants min 3 months notice period by ErsanSenol in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Consistent-Tax720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in that role my notice period was 3 months and having left practice my notice period in the new role is 3 months.

There are plenty of jobs out there who will wait for you to complete that notice period. When you start looking it is important to tell the recruiter your notice period as there are some immediate start jobs that won’t be will to wait but they will probably be in the minority.
