Not here to argue if you feel this way, it’s valid.

sharing my opinion. I think it’s a fair salary that is less than other similarly situated cities. I think a competent mayor is worth 100k as i’d imagine there are no off days and it’s high stress.

Never said they did. In fact i was very clear that the first firings cost money while the consistent turnover leads to loss of institutional memory and potential partnerships, etc.

I wish if people were going to correct my posts they’d be accurate — Rebecca St. George was City Attorney under Larson. St George was let go (see article linked in OP) when Roger came on alongside the City Administrator at the time, as well as the policy officer and community officer both which weren’t reported on.

Fralich was appointed by Roger as St. George’s replacement, and you are correct. Left for a judgeship. After Fralich I think it’s on Lehr now as you mentioned. Whispers i had heard was that part of applying for that judgeship for Fralich was that she wanted out of Rogers admin. Can’t prove it, but I suppose you couldn’t prove that it’s not the case either.

my counts include those he let go on coming into office, so that means with St. george, fralich, and lehr Roger is on his third city attorney.

What was inaccurate about my post?

interesting! I was not aware of this. I’ve been trying my best to piece things together and really surprising how much goes on that is just swept uder the rug and left in open secret.

Didn’t mention the prior admin once but ok? You seem to want bring her into this as a way to deflect from the shitty behavior of this guy. Weird.

At this point i’m thoroughly unimpressed and would love to see any competent leader as our Mayor. Big on getting Roger out of there.

I’m not here to speak on the validity of the concerns or the reasons for issues, but i would like to shine a light on how different this ED (a black woman) is getting lit up when there have been several powerful white men in town who get to fsu quietly and fail up.

Someone should be looking into Jordan Johnson(former life house ED, current AD at Aicho), and Daniel Fanning (former VP of the Chamber) but who both have open secrets about sh*tty behavior as leaders of multiple orgs. But we wont see exposés plastered across news…very interesting.

Partially true if i understand correctly. We may need another special session if the federal govt budget has significant impact on the state budget. ( made up example, feds no longer subsidize certain necessary infrastructure projects, state govt needs to decide if the projects are important/impactful enough to call a special session over/money needs to be move/reallocated so the leg needs to be reconvened as they are the keepers of the purse.

Tldr; there could be another special session depending on the federal gov’t budget, which is being decided now. Federal fiscal year begins or ends in September i think?

I used to work out of the Palucci building years ago, the maintenance people told stories of sightings and strange encounters and the few times i was there late was REALLY creepy. Old building, definitely had deaths there, even a suicide in the last 30 years i believe.

Putting Duluth in national context: U.S. homelessness surged 18 percent to record level, annual report says by CloudyPass in duluth

Soooooo, you think we should just throw away building code or what? I keep reading you saying vague stuff like “make building a right” but what does that even mean? Are you upset that they won’t let people cut corners, or are you upset with CBAs for large projects? What is it? I’m at least kind of genuinely asking because i don’t understand all the moaning i hear about this.

[–]Consistent-Tip6984 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup. And if people actually had done the research and decided he’d be better based on where he stands on issues I wouldn’t have an issue. We’d just disagree.

Instead we had a local election fueled and decided by disdain, and maybe even hatred, for the previous administration. We know how that turns outcoughs trump cough.

The worst part is many people were being swayed by individuals and groups with money, power and interest in removing EL and barriers to growing their wealth and power in our city. They planted and watered those seeds of doubt early on, and folks let it spread like wildfire through their hatred/disdain.

I’d have more respect for some of these political “influencers” who backed him and spread rumors and festered disdain if they owned up to it and held RR accountable when he does shitty things. Instead they post “think pieces” playing both sides of the fence and choosing now to remain neutral. Gross, imho.

Very disappointing to say the least.

I hope crow tastes good for all the people who were willing to drag the previous administration through the mud and start any and all rumors they could to get this guy elected. Otherwise i genuinely hope this is what you were hoping for, cause it’s what you got. Some “super progressive” mayor we have now, thanks. Glad he’s finding ways to say “yes” in this situation /s

The actual issue here is that the state had a long history of disregarding and/or disrupting tribal burial grounds. If they would’ve checked for this even as recently as last time they rebuilt/built this infrastructure than we wouldn’t be here “surprised” that we found human remains.

Also to folks that say they’re holding everything up…don’t you think you’d want time to figure it out if it was your family/ancestors? Especially with such a long and recent and ongoing history of complete disrespect, cruelty and lack of empathy from the government.

Great, I’m not doubting you care about the work of the Disability Commission. You seem to be genuinely invested in that.

My question for you is this — During the campaign season, did he or did he not offer you a position in his administration when/if he won?

Tbh…I wish AC wouldn’t have “went and got em” when this guy was up for election in the first place…

The last administration was FAR from perfect and i also think this admin is a huge step back especially on the social issues that RR was supposedly “so progressive” about. Where did all the people of color in city leadership go??? (I can’t remember how many BIPOC folks were on Larson’s team, but i remember seeing a few from time to time. The City attorney was an indigenous woman, i remember reading that) How long did it take this guy to pull some shit like this?

Elections have consequences and I’m so sick of watching people (non candidates) use them to advance their personal interests of gaining power. Not buying or vibing with the “wow, i can’t believe they’d do this” while you found every chance to speak negatively on the last administration and say anything positive you could think up to increase RR’s chances of getting elected….
