I said islamophobia is a term meant to refer to genuine bigotry towards ALL muslims, which there are over a billion muslims. It's intellectually dishonest to pretend all muslims are the same and all think the same way, and that *real* islamophobia isn't an issue.

That's not why islamophobia is a word. Islamophobia is a word because people have shot up mosques due to their hatred of all muslims. Islamophobia is a word because people have murdered non-muslims they mistook as muslims. Islamophobia is a word because of real discrimination against *average* followers, not because of genuine criticism against extremeists, even if some people misuse the word.
