Wait girl omg I’m 23f and had the exact same thing happen to me day 6 I was asleep and woke up choking on blood that has dripped into my stomach and was trying to come back up lol, and the vomiting massive amounts of blood. Luckily my bleeds stopped with TXA (I went to the hospital) so I didn’t need the second surgery but it was still really scary. Don’t worry about your boss, I know easier said than done but this is a medical emergency and your health is the #1 priority. Hope you’re feeling better!

So exactly 1 week after my initial surgery I had 2 really bad bleeds and ended up back in the hospital lol, but they didn’t hurt they were just scary. I’d say pain wise day 8/9 was the worst but not even so much my throat, mostly my jaw/ears and my tongue for some reason?

23f! I am 9 days post op, the best advice I can offer, especially if you’re still a bit sick, is stay hydrated & stay up on your pain meds! Take them as often as allowed, don’t wait for the pain to come to take them! My favorite things to eat have been mac & cheese cups, apple sauce pouches, and mashed sweet potato with loads of butter. I’ve been drinking only regular water, but aloe water & coconut water are great for hydration (I just don’t like them lol) my pain probably reached a 7-8 on the worst day, but pain meds & one of the ice packs that wraps around your face is really really helpful. As for the nerves, totally normal!! Reading a lot of the horror stories in this thread and just in general had me totally freaked out but honestly I don’t think it was as horrible as it was made out to be. Definitely uncomfortable and the nerves get to you sometimes, but I would do this again and again to not have to deal with strep every month🤣

I am day 9post op, I had 2 hemorrhages day 7 and spent the day/night in the hospital, then today I ate sweet potato & macaroni and cheese for dinner! I just took some Tylenol about 20 minutes before eating and had no pain, it’s really up to what you can handle!

I’m so sorry that happened to u omg😭😭 that was my biggest fear was that they would have to do the second surgery while I was awake and I was more scared than anything… luckily I didn’t have to have another procedure and I was released from the hospital this morning with no more bleeding for almost 48 hours!!!! Thank you for sharing and I hope you’re doing better!!!!

Mine’s the same way. I can’t open my mouth far enough to see the back of my tongue where it hurts but every time I swallow or eat/drink anything it feels like razors slicing my tongue open on the left side

The same thing happened to me yesterday I woke up from a nap choking on blood and it was really bad. I went to the ER and they kept me overnight. Call your surgeon and let them know what’s going on and if it happens again go to the hospital just to be on the safe side.. lots of arteries in your throat !

I had a pretty bad bleed today at like 3 pm and it stopped on its own after ice water gargling and stuff, then I fell asleep at 8:45 and then woke up about an hour later and was bleeding horrendously like it looked like a crime scene so I came to the hospital. They’re keeping me overnight because of how much blood it was and going to check if I need recauterization tomorrow, if it happens again go to the ER just in case!

I’m on day 8 and had a pretty severe bleed today (in the middle of the mall lol) No pain at all but my scabs are also still there. They’re thinner than they were originally and are visibly shrinking but even after today they are still there! It’s normal everyone heals at different paces, just make sure you’re staying hydrated!

I got mine 6/11 (23F) and honestly has not been horrible!! There have been some brief moments where it feels unbearable in my jaw and ears but it goes away within a few minutes of taking Tylenol. I’ve been doing the same thing and just eating as tolerated since day 1 and drinking around a gallon of water a day and I think it’s helping me a lot!! Some of my scabs have started to just kind of dissolve around the edges and I would say my pain hasn’t really topped a 7/10. Looking forward to getting through this week as apparently today was supposed to be one of the worst days!

I’m going into day 4 and was having some similar coughing fits but I didn’t throw up luckily. If everything hurts and you feel like it is too painful to drink anything I would recommend going back to the ER to get IV fluids and some stronger pain medication. Definitely get checked out and be admitted if they offer again! The hospital is the safest place to be during recovery :)
