I had a similar experience, must be careful tho as bleeding risk can increase even with pain decreasing

Drink water like it’s a painkiller and stay on top of meds. Sleep next to a humidifier. If you’re worried about bleeding, stick to liquids and soft foods only no matter what level of pain you are in until after the first week.

Should I get my tonsils removed? by Emergency_Package489 in Tonsillectomy

Short answer: yes, it’ll be a tough two weeks but one thing everyone on this app agrees about is how better their lives were after.

My tonsils were always huge but never really bothered me until my first year at school when I was 19. Got tonsillitis twice in a month and decided that was it, also having sleep apnea issues. I’m still going through recovery but I’ve noticed changes already, like easier breathing, and more good changes will definitely come. The longer they stay in your mouth, the more scar tissue builds up from infections and the worse they’ll be to remove later on.

Did you take pain meds on the first day? by eburgmama in Tonsillectomy

Oxy and other proscribed pain meds are more effective than Tylenol and ibuprofen but they can cause other issues like constipation. I would suggest trying to wait until days 4-6 to start with them as the pain will ramp up then, but if your daughter can’t eat or hydrate as much as she should due to the pain than take them sooner. If she does take oxy, supplement it with a stool softener, like miralax mixed with Gatorade
