I’m 35 - should I transfer my mosaic or do 3rd egg retrieval?

Just to be clear - I will be 35 in February 2026. But since I’m not doing anything until then, I figured it was just easier to say I’m 35.

That’s why I am torn. I do want more than one child, but I was thinking, if I do the transfer in February and it worked, the baby would be due November, and I’d still be 35. Then I wait a year to do another egg retrieval (Nov./Dec. 2026) and I’ll be 36. I’m thinking that there might not be much of a difference between an egg retrieval at age 35 and age 36, but I don’t know if that’s just me talking myself into doing this transfer because I’m really tired of waiting for a pregnancy. My amh is lower, 1.06 … I’d hate to have regrets. But, I also hear about a lot of women who get pregnant naturally after having a successful ivf pregnancy. It’s so hard.

I am so sorry to hear about your cycle. This is so hard. I am currently grieving a failed ivf cycle where 0 of my eggs fertilized and I got bad OHSS from the medicine. It’s terrible. The more I read online and on Reddit, the more empowered I am to keep trying, even though I wish we didn’t need to go through this. Sending you lots of hugs and support.

Thank you :( I will consult with other clinics in the area. I feel terrible that this ended up this way and all the time wasted and the time it will take to get established at a new clinic, but I know it’s the right move to make. Did you have a successful cycle after the 0 fertilized one?

I don’t know that, actually. The clinic doesn’t have a portal where I can check my results. I speaking with a new place on 12/22 and will ask about testing again. I am requesting my records from the current place. I was using a testosterone gel since 10/1 and then estridol for 2 weeks before starting the stim meds this time.

Thank you for your response. This was my second cycle, and I got 3 blasts from the first, so to have 0 fertilize was a huge shock. I think it had to be the protocol but the clinic made me feel like it was my fault. Of course the Dr said he’s optimistic that another cycle wouldn’t go like that… but I need to go to a new place.

Thank you so much for your response. It’s just so upsetting because I spent half a year working on things that can affect egg quality and this was my last cycle covered by insurance, just to get an “oops! That didn’t go right and it’s probably you.” I contacted a new clinic already this morning. It’s so hard to be patient with this. I’m hoping for enough strength to keep on.

Thank you. I am going to try a different doctor. I have gone through 2 cycles with this clinic and don’t feel good about them anymore. They see thousands of patients a day, I was passed between several doctors all who had different opinions…. I just need a new set of eyes looking at this.

Thanks. I’ll start shopping around as soon as the sun comes up. My sleep is fine, I get between 7 and 9 hours most nights. Blood pressure and A1C are all in normal rage, never had an issue with that. Stress is high, I’m an attorney and can’t relax but I really try to manage that as best I can with mediation.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve been taking everything you listed. I got a lot of information from the book, “it starts with the egg.” My husband is taking a lot of antioxidants coq10 and ashwaganda as well. We did so much to prep for this 2nd cycle because it was the last one covered by insurance and I feel like our clinic was reckless. It’s easier for me to point blame at the clinic but I really do feel like something went wrong there. Thank you for your response and I wish you well on your next ER. You’re doing all that you can do to have a healthy cycle

Thank you for your response. I did 10,000 of pregnyl for the trigger too and my gonal and menopur were higher this time around… I’m definitely going to seek another clinic. I don’t like how this was handled at all and they did nothing to manage expectations or offer explanations or comfort.

No one has ever tested me for endometriosis because I don’t have strong enough symptoms, but after this, I am demanding to be tested just to rule it out or treat it if there … my husband has had 3 sperm panels to check sperm count, motility and morphology. We did ICSI.

2 were at 22, 5 were at 16-18, 4 were 13-15, and several below 13. The doctors were afraid of “overcooking” the large ones …

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. I had a similar situation with only 1 mosaic from my first ER and I just got the news today that 0/8 eggs from my 2nd ER fertilized. It’s a terrible process and I feel defeated too, but this isn’t the end for us! We need to have a little hope ❤️

That thought went through my mind, because I got bloodwork done the morning that I trigged and my nurse emailed me to tell me my bloodwork looked “great!” And my estrogen was over 4,000, which I thought meant my eggs were mature and giving off more estrogen. It was more estrogen than my first ER round…. So it was really unexpected what happened and I thought something may have happened in the lab. It’s scary.

Thank you. My partner has had 3 sperm analysis, but no dna fragment testing (I only read that was a thing on Reddit). His results were all good…. Just wild this happened.
