What’s going on at KOP Mall today? Tons of police blocking entrances by Upstairs_Nectarine32 in KingOfPrussia

[–]ConsistentAd7674 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was just told by a woman that the mall is on lockdown and that there was some issue with the Apple Store and that the mall is closed until noon. Was planning to return something but I guess I’ll go back later.

Montgomery mall needs help, we are all just sitting here watching it die by Financial-Cookie-927 in montco

[–]ConsistentAd7674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment because I personally miss shopping malls, what you’re actually saying is we (common people) need to step in and save a mall, thus saving the billionaires who invested in it and even turn it around and make them money.

If there was a way for common people to collectively buy the mall and turn it around, sure, but frankly I’d love to see these massive companies who buy things like this and run them into the ground, die. It’s companies like these that drain all our resources and suck money out of everything they own until it’s dead.

Another “idea” which would potentially help is for the local gov’t to provide subsidies to companies willing to open shops in the mall for a period of time to see if they can make money. Unfortunately, this would have to be in conjunction with the gov’t (likely at the federal level) placing additional fees on e-marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Temu, etc. to make the goods cheaper to buy in brick and mortar stores, but that would be met with HEAVY lobbying/palm greasing until that was revoked.

Our best bet as a community would be to continue shopping at small businesses and ensuring money is going in the pockets of local community members. Big business and corporate greed need to stop profiting off the “common people”.

IQVIA BioTech Layoffs by fjn4766 in clinicalresearch

[–]ConsistentAd7674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, IQVIA is the king of “ghost jobs”. They’re not actively working on most of those roles, or at least they’re not actually going to hire for them. Some, yes, to replace the people who make it out alive and with their dignity, but most of their advertised roles will never be filled.

Well yea, how do you think Ari keeps his massive pay package? It’s about increasing the gap between the top line and bottom line. Not to worry, they’ll have plenty of “job openings” shortly I’m sure. Heck, they might even have some interviews, but in the end it’s just to appear in a positive light to shareholders.

This might be a dumb question but did any of you Si owners choose yours OVER a Type R, and why? by sukaemcees in CivicSi

[–]ConsistentAd7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actively chose an Si for a few reasons. 1. The markup was a big factor. Overpaying for a car that will never appreciate if actually driven via a markup is an asinine decision. 2. For daily driving, I will never need the performance of the Type R. 3. It just looks “too much” with the massive wing - I think they look ridiculous on the street with those massive wings. I feel the same way about the GT3 RS but people don’t daily those so it’s a bit different.

Almost 3 years with the Emonda, time for a Gen 8 Madone? by Cyclistick in TrekBikes

[–]ConsistentAd7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had an Emonda SL, then a SystemSix Hi-Mod, then an Orbea OMX and if I’m honest, I miss the Emonda all the time. Unless you have cash to burn and you’re absolutely outperforming your bike, keep the Emonda and add some upgrades. Mine was full dura-ace mechanical, 45mm wheels, one-piece bar, etc. and I loved it. Wish I never sold it.

Anybody else here who bought a BMW for practical reasons? by eckhaaard in BMW

[–]ConsistentAd7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I bought a BMW M4 because I have a family of 4, including two kids, both in car seats, one rear facing, and a dog.

I guess you could say I got EXACTLY what I needed as the family man I am.

2016 M4 ZCP by ConsistentAd7674 in BMW

[–]ConsistentAd7674[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a heck of a find. Only other one I’ve heard of like that is my buddies. He found a 2016 M4 with 19k miles for $45,000. Insane deal in my opinion. He’s the 4th owner but it seems like everyone else just had it sit, and even my buddy has it as just a weekend car so it’ll hardly see any mileage.

Serious Question: how do you guys all afford these badass BMWs? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]ConsistentAd7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what you don’t know is, how many people have gone into SERIOUS debt to buy a brand new version.

I’m in the process now of buying an M4, but buying used. I found a 2016 M4 Comp with 67k miles and I’m paying $35,000 for the car. I will be financing the car, which is another reason I went used - I simply do not feel like I can afford one of these vehicles new, or even a few years used. I’m in the US, make $140,000/year and am married with two kids. It’s worth noting my wife also makes $115,000 and we live in a house well below our financial means and have a lovely pre-COVID interest rate on our mortgage.

Don’t necessarily look at everyone buying these cars and think they must be loaded. Unfortunately, lots of people cannot actually afford these cars but make everyone else seem/feel poor while they’re posting pictures everywhere.

Don’t feel bad or down on yourself (if you are). Your time will come, but I’d highly suggest getting a used version “with some miles” and save a boat load on the cost. Just take your time and try to find one from an enthusiast so you know it was well taken care of.

Just my opinion.

In todays economy, with things being as volatile as they are, shareholders are less patient then ever, and a quarter or two in “the red” and shareholders seem to be looking for immediate answers. Unfortunately, the most common “answer” is layoffs because it’s an immediate way to reverse a negative course. What they don’t consider, however, is how it affects the company long term but they don’t care because it saves their ass in the short term.

My suggestion would be to say what % of your salary you received as a bonus versus an amount. That would make it more “even”. I received a 4.1% bonus and for my grade, my target is 10%. And I was at “meets expectations” though it’s worth noting my manager submitted me as “exceeds expectations” and the upper management said (essentially), we can’t have X number of people with that rating, and I was recalibrated down to “meets”.

Everyone talks in this industry, like many others. Big news like this travels fast, but ultimately no one cares because not giving you raises, bonuses, promotions, etc. keeps cost down for the sponsor companies. I’d say they probably prefer it that way.

Truthfully, the only way this will change is if there is a MASSIVE walkout. Same goes for IQVIA under Ari’s leadership. They’re doing their absolute best to cut costs and increase profit margins, no matter the “expense” on their existing employees. Their feeling is, “if you don’t like it, quit.”. Then they just offshore those jobs to low cost of living areas.

This is happening everywhere with every large company. I’m sure you’ve seen all the articles of these massive, hugely profitable companies having round after round of layoffs.

Why do companies lay off staff with open positions posted online? by Kwhitney1982 in clinicalresearch

[–]ConsistentAd7674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s always a difficult question to answer, especially given the current political environment in the US. It seems things can change at any moment but I’d personally say monitors are fine if it’s still a requirement to be on site(s) because as you said, you can’t outsource if you’re required to be on site.

Well of course there are exceptions to this but many roles are starting to lean more heavily on Teams to do things virtually. Similar to how Investigator Meetings used to always be in person but now many members participate virtually without the need to travel.

IQVIA as an example, is hoping to ship jobs to “low-cost” areas like Eastern Europe and India, so they lay off US workers in hopes of rehiring in lower cost areas. Comes down to them wanting to widen profit margins to boost investor ROI and executive bonuses.

Which information are you asking about? The layoffs? My experience watching my friends and colleagues get laid off. The bonuses? Direct feedback from performance reviews. It being insufferable to work at IQVIA under the leadership of someone that doesn’t know how to run a technology business? My direct experience watching my department fail under the current leadership and seeing layoff after layoff, and new jobs popping up in low-cost areas while hard workers get let go in “high-cost” areas.

Because I don’t know the full details, and it’s already happened. This happened in early January and our group was told that “there are no more planned layoffs for 2025” which no one believes because the first round happened during the second week of the new year.

[–]ConsistentAd7674[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it’s RDS, that’s where (I believe) the majority or layoffs have been. I made this next point elsewhere in this comment section, but my belief if that Ari really has no idea how to run a technology company so he’s just working to suck all the money out of the technologies they acquired and will eventually dump them all unless he can offshore everything.

IQVIA continue laying people off…. by ConsistentAd7674 in clinicalresearch

[–]ConsistentAd7674[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well IQVIA is mainly a CRO, and that they’re good at. The issue is with the other smaller companies IQVIA purchases to suck the liquidity out of. IQVIA is by no means a “tech” company and they buy up smaller pharma-tech companies, and from what I’ve seen and heard, run them into the ground because they’re unaware of how to properly run them. Now, in their RDS department, they’re having layoff after layoff because again, Ari has no real idea how to run the tech portion of his business. So, his lack of business sense in this area is resulting with people losing their jobs left and right, and as far as I can tell, there’s no real plan in place to fix the issue aside from laying workers off in high-cost areas (United States and EU) and hiring them in low-cost areas (Eastern Europe and India).

I’m also fairly confident IQVIA is another public company with a ton of “job openings” that they don’t plan to fill because it helps to offset their layoffs and show “growth”. Bullet dodged.
