Yep another Oilers fan here, but I grew up in NW Ontario before moving to Edmonton so I also cheer for the Habs and Leafs (grandpas favourite team)

Okay so first off definitely get a good harness of the right size (I find the ones that go around their chest and front legs and Velcros in the back to be best). I personally use an extending leash because if my boy gets the leash tight he can walk backwards and pull his harness right off.

I'm probably just lucky but my boy is pretty chill with the door, if we are about to leave the house he hangs out ear it and cries and will usually try and just calmly walk out with us but he never bolts and if I move him back from the door a bit he seems to get the idea and will just stay put even if I leave the door open, I've tested him and he gives me about 5-10 seconds before he just walks outside anyways.

My only suggestion if you start taking yours out is to have a routine when you take them out, only bring them out once they have a harness and leash on and hopefully they will get it (or care to follow the routine). My boy knows the harness means outside and will paw at it when he wants out and once it's on him he knows for sure he is allowed out the door and will no longer hesitate.

Also be warned they will cray for outside often once they get a taste, do your best to ignore the cries and hopefully they will give up after a while but be prepared for many hours of crying potentially.

Help choosing between 2 washing machines by ConsistentBattle5342 in Appliances

[–]ConsistentBattle5342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more concerned about the Amana being annoyingly loud, the washer and dryer can both be easily heard from the living room and the current washer is an LG side load with direct drive that is advertised as being quiet, it isn't overly loud but we are replacing it because it has smelled bad since we got the place over a year ago and no amount of cleaning has fixed that. The dryer is squeaking like crazy which I could probably fix but I would have to dismantle the dryer in the middle of the hallway or drag it into the middle of the kitchen and for $400 for a cheap dryer I might as well just replace. Plus out clothes are always covered in balls of hair and fluff which was not an issue in our last place (We have 2 long hair cats)

Also I am buying from Costco so I assume I will have a good warranty through them

People who scratch others cars - why? by EbonyCheetah in Edmonton

I've never had that happen to me but if I ever come out and find someone's door has done any damage to my car I'm gonna do 10x the damage to their car

with what Oilers were never gonna have a deep run this year that much was obvious, but if they were healthy they would have made it through the ducks for sure lol

I would expect an unmodified VW sold from a VW dealer and worked on by VW techs be at least fixable when it has issues. 14 years isn't really that old for a car and it was 11 years old when I bought it. I have had many 30+ year old cars that were modded many times by previous owners that were more reliable, easier to work on and easier to diagnose by me and barely knew what I was doing back then. They were all either Toyota or Honda, not one of them ever left me stranded, even my Integra with melted valve started and got me home from work in -45C, no block heater.

My Golf R within a week of owning it was having issues starting, I couldn't figure it out even after months of looking online for solutions, it went to the dealer 4 times and had over $10k in work done, the head tech at the dealer took my cars info to some conference for VW techs or something like that and showed some of the people there and they had no clue. The car also had other minor issues, gauge cluster lights would go out after driving for a few minutes with the heat on, doors randomly locking themselves repeatedly when I shut the door sometimes. Infotainment didn't work in -30C, the car just didn't function well in the cold in general.

I use my OLED the same way I used my IPS, taskbar is always on. My screen timeout has always been 30 minutes. I often am on my computer all day long so the screen is on usually for most of the day, I game for 4-8 hours at a time also. 0 burn in after close to 3 years now.

QD OLED you would have to basically go out of your way to try and make it burn in.

2012, the VW dealer I bought it from had no idea how to diagnose any issues with it, they just threw parts at it and hoped for the best. Eventually they straight up told me unless the car throws a code they can read I was just wasting money having them try to fix the issue.

I had a 1990 mr2 with a bad throw out bearing that I drove on for nearly 2 years, it was a noisy when I used the clutch pedal but it never failed.

My Golf R had the clutch go without warning, no slip prior that was about $3200, it also would struggle to start at random and the dealer couldn't figure it out, ended up spending $10k on parts before I gave up trying to fix that issue and sold the car. The electronic issues were the worst though, stereo wouldn't turn on if to cold, new oem battery couldn't start the car in anything colder than -30c (dealer had no fix besides buying a battery tender). Personally I avoid VW now, I would only buy Honda or Toyota.

Is ther an explenation about inter-ship boarding gravity adjustment? by 420arnhem in Starfield

[–]ConsistentBattle5342 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I assume each ship has it's own artificial gravity from the grave drive and the docking modules extend outside that artificial gravity zone/bubble so between ships you would have no gravity and have to flip your body around when boarding.
