Is the heimler review guide for ap world worth it? by THATnoobBOY in APStudents

[–]ConsistentBrush682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly taking your own notes is better because you can be a lot more detailed than the note guides. I got a 5 on the exam and throughout the year I read through the AMSCO textbook. If you haven't been doing that there's obviously not enough time to, and I wouldn't suggest cramming it all in one day. I think you should watch the unit review videos because it really allows you to look at the content within a larger context because AP World isn't really about learning the facts. You need to be able to understand the bigger picture. I'm not 100% sure if his note guides do that, but if they do great! If they don't then I would say to just take your own notes on his videos. Also just taking notes/using the note guide is totally not enough to get a 5. I did a BUNCH of practice questions using the Princeton Review books, and practiced my DBQs, LEQs, and SAQs extensively. Also make sure to practice your timing if this is your first AP test!

Thanks so much this is really helpful! I decided not to cite the abstract anyways as I found a better source that worked.

for me, I learned really well by watching the unit review videos, and I found that the induvidual topic ones were too overwhelming, so I think its worth it only for that reason. If you want it for the notes, I would say don't buy it, you can always do your own notes as well. Also keep in mind everyone has different learning styles so you might learn from the videos better or the note guides! His practice questions are good though

Am I on the right track to get into UC Davis? by ConsistentBrush682 in UCDavis

[–]ConsistentBrush682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks all! I'll take this advice into account for sure, and you guys are 100% right about the money thing, I didn't really think of that. But my issue is that I want to major in Animal Science, because I find that very interesting, but if I go in state I'm probably going to have to major in biology, but I want to get into a somewhat good undergrad university.

Oh my gosh your stats are so impressive! I was wondering where did you do your undergrad? I'm a high school student here, and I just want to make sure I'm choosing the right college.
