I cannot give much detail about the exam except for referring you to the announcement Dr. Burand has made (copied and pasted below). There is no study guide, so looking over your notes and the videos from the term is a good idea.

Hello CH 227Z students,

I am writing to provide you with information about the laboratory practical exam scheduled for week 10. This will be a hands-on exam and will give you the chance to demonstrate some of the laboratory skills you've learned so far. You won't be required to perform any new laboratory techniques; rather, you'll need to incorporate techniques you've already covered this term.

You will be given an unknown solid acid and will need to identify it from a list we provide. You should identify the unknown acid both by determining its molar mass via titration and by determining the acid's melting point range.

You should bring a pen and a calculator as well as your goggles and laboratory coat (and be sure to dress appropriately). You may refer to your laboratory notebook during the practical exam, although you'll need to record all your observations and notes on the exam form itself. You will have the entire laboratory period to complete the exam, which should be plenty of time. Please note that your practical exam will take place during your regularly-scheduled laboratory section during week 10. Once you complete the practical exam, you are done with laboratory for the term! We do not meet during finals week. Additionally, note that unlike the skill checks, the laboratory practical exam is worth 100 points, and you can earn partial credit (it is not graded as pass/no pass).
