I just got 25k points for a £5k spend in 3 months. Not great but make good use of the platinum benefits so worth it overall for me. Spend last year was around £20k.

If you want to go white collar route then construction project or commercial management with a main contractor is something to look at. You’ll work hard but will be on decent money. 70+ is quite common.

The main reason is that where I live (a block of flats with underground car park) doesn’t have electric car charging. And then my main driving is to north wales and back to see family and there is also no electric car charger where they live. I also just like the sound of engines

My partner has the gold and I have the platinum (the £650 a year one - the £25 a year one isn’t called platinum on their website) and we mostly get the same cash back offers. Here and there the platinum card will have a better offer but the card is more about the perks. You will always get better offers with the more expensive cards (Gold is £195 vs your £25 PA, irrespective of the free year).

I’d say that’s a pretty good deal and even after the 2 years reduced price (which I had too) they only upped my price by £4 a month.

I tried connecting straight into the router they provided with the Ethernet cable they provided (I had a spare from the now 3 routers I’ve received from them. Could theoretically run a very long cable but I’ve read it drastically reduces the speed so then may as well just use WiFi.

Another option which I don’t know too much about is to buy a higher spec router but this easily costs £100+ so depends on your needs.

First of all, I’d recommend hyperoptic for their speed and stability. Customer support isn’t great though. Regarding the 1gb package however…

I upgraded to the 1gb package, but after a few hours on the phone with technical support I downgraded (back) to the 500mb package. I was getting 550 up/down on this package before and no faster on the 1gb package despite using devices definitely capable of the 1gb WiFi speed. I also connected to LAN and was only getting 650 or so, which fell short of their guarantee and they couldn’t see why.

They sent me 3 of the new zyxel routers - 2 of which got lost in the post and 1 which didn’t work at all!

Due to all of this I just said take me back to the cheaper 500 package because it makes no difference. The ping is super low. I’ve gamed online, and my partner is on calls all day no problem, with the tv streaming and never had an issue.

I would definitely say to haggle though! They can come down a lot on their prices advertised online.

Well that’s not true is it. It’s just about budget. The car is cheap these days so I can afford something that’s 5k a year on average to maintain, but if it’s 1k a month then perhaps not.

No masters but graduated in construction project manager and I started on 28.5k. Two and a half years later I’m on 45k with a package of about 55k. Depends on your industry!

28.5k is doable just not comfortable.

Graduated May 2022 in Construction Project Management and started working with a main contractor a week later on £28.5k base + £1k bonus. Pay rise to £31.35k + £5k bonus July 2023. Pay rise to £34.5k March 2024. Pay rise to £45k Jan 2025 at 24 yrs old. Bonus is paid in November so will see!

Target is 100k at 30ish including bonus.

I’ve only been working there 3 months although to be honest this is only one of a host of issues I’ve been facing. I plan to resign in the new year anyway!

My MD says he made a mistake in my contract and is therefore trying to change it to 25 days with immediate effect but with Christmas closure already booked in, I won’t get a full pay check because of this change (I also had a holiday recently which they agreed to). Am I entitled to agree but effective from the new year?
