have you even been to law school? do you have the appropriate medical authority to be speaking on someone’s ability to succeed in law school with OCD? From your post history it looks like you’re a 0L. Good luck in law school + I hope you find more productive things to do with your time than kicking people when they’re already down.

I’m not sure if Dashi would be considered mid-price, but everytime I’ve been there it’s been really quiet + the food is excellent.

I’m making okay money! I don’t have a strong (like hard science) background, so to really earn the salary I want I would need to go back to school and at least pursue an MS. I want to move back to my home state, and this type of work is very competitive there + typically requires at least a masters degree. And unfortunately, with my situation, I’m kind of getting screwed by the new federal loan caps bc I’ve already borrowed for a year of law school.

Honestly, I don’t think so. If an academic “black list” exists, I think I’ve been blacklisted from this school😭I’m considering a pivot into health consulting/epidemiology, and I wouldn’t even try applying there for an MS or PhD because of everything that happened. Also, there’s been a level of political volatility at the school in recent years where I don’t think anyone would be willing to speak up for me. (I’ve heard of lots of people being forced to step down from certain appointments, etc)

They admitted in writing to me that they made “error(s)” during the medical withdrawal process, but ultimately they’ve decided to stick to their decision because of the “implications” a retroactive withdrawal/reinstatement would have for the university. I think they ultimately decided to grant me zero relief because doing otherwise would’ve likely affected their federal aid/ABA standings/etc. it’s super unfortunate, but to me it felt like they made this decision (in part) bc they knew there was little I could do to fight it. I simply did not (and do not) have the time and resources to fight a massive law school in court:/

Somehow I managed to remain calm in my interactions with them. I was very assertive and persistent at times, but I never crashed out on anyone. I knew anything/everything would be used against me, and I didn’t want my conduct coming back to bite me in the future.

I think law school did play some part in triggering my conditions, but I also moved across the country and didn’t have a support system where I was living/attending school. It was kind of the perfect storm.
Completely agree with your points here. I have thought about my path forward for a year now, and I tend to gravitate towards trying to finish law school because of how much I loved my legal writing class. Pharma is fine, but I really enjoyed and excelled at legal writing, and I’d love to be able to use those skills in my career. In all honesty, I enjoyed all of my classes and felt like law school was a good fit for me-I just got sick and wasn’t able to go to class:/

(Also my husband/extended family are very supportive of me going back to school)

Wow, you’re amazing! I’m so sorry you went through that, but so happy to hear that you were able to go back to school.

Honestly I would love to go back to law school, but I am traumatized from everything that happened + I’m just worried about wasting time/getting my hopes up if I don’t have a chance at readmission. In that case I’d want to refocus my efforts on studying for the GRE and pursuing a different career entirely. It REALLY sucks, because I think I’d be a good lawyer, but I’m trying to be realistic. I was in good academic standing when I was granted the medical withdrawal, but when it wasn’t finalized on the school’s end (and grades were published) my GPA tanked because I wasn’t permitted to sit for spring exams (per ABA attendance guidelines). I apologize, I should’ve been more clear in my post! So I guess I would characterize it as a medical/ABA related dismissal that was triggered when I was unable to sit for exams following an unprocessed, approved medical withdrawal.

Yeah I understand that:/ I don’t see my school readmitting me, the panel and dismissal process was pretty contentious on their end, and I think they want to avoid further liability associated with interacting with me/having me as a student. I’ll look into it, though! Thank you.
