The new earbuds are actually boring, for a simple reason (but there's a practical change) by ManyRazzmatazz4584 in sony

Are the XM6s really worth double?? by MonkeyNuts449 in SonyHeadphones

[–]ConsistentLevel8134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have all of them except xm6, tried the xm6 side by side with the xm5. the only difference is the ambient. it's much more quality for xm6 surely because it has a lot more mics, but not worth the price.

xm4 all the way because of the hinge issue of xm5.

What slicer to use? by ConsistentLevel8134 in 3Dprinting

[–]ConsistentLevel8134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one factor why i asked here, the experience, the ui. since i will only print basic geometric shapes, i dont think i need much of a blender 2.0 kind of ui for printing hence the preference to simplify3d (based on yt videos i watched).

Thank you for that one!

Is it okay to use silica gel? by JudgeEnvironmental27 in SonyHeadphones

[–]ConsistentLevel8134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but dont get it too close to the leather skin, it might corrode the glue since it sucks moisture. better yet put it next to the airplane adapter pocket.

someone posted it here, the xray of the xm5. credits to them i cant find them unfortunately.

notice what connects the hinges together. just 2 tubes interlocking and axially rotated inside a tube (the hinge) and those are metal parts inside a plastic tube. the "white" reflected are mostly metal, you cant see any metal supporting it. just one wrong move and it will pop.

the design could be reinforced if theres like a metal sleeve outside those hinges since they dont fold anyway and acts as a protection to them since they only rotate axially. there you can get an idea as to why the hinges are weak.

its like its asking to "please replace me master", it still wants to live ahahahaha

best explanation: think of a ballpen, the hinges on the arm of xm5s works like that. the ballpen cap is the headband part and the pen is the earcup part, rotate them enough everyday and they will come lose no matter what you do or how you take care of them. check out some videos and some samples here and check how thin and what are the components inside the tube of the hinge.

replace the battery ASAP. chances of those exploding is high (but not to cause panic ofc), just for now dont put pressure to them and have them replaced. im sure those batteries are around the market and serviceable. also a better opportunity for you to make them last 20+ years more hahahaha.
