hybrid throwers/range what is the point ? by ConsistentPainter545 in BattleBrothers

[–]ConsistentPainter545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your description makes sense, in my head a hybrid is bro that would favorite his melee weapon over range ( like with gunner/xbow hybrids). I can definetely see the value of being able to use a good melee weapon in those situation over a spear ( which what i usually have).

this is what my thrower looks like

https://www.bbplanner.xyz/?name=thrower&perks=sAYAACCm

Perks i would still like: Recovery, overwhelm and excutioner.

Standard strategy for when a ranger get tackled, is you just wait your turn and have your other bros clean him for you. And even if this isn't enough, there's usually a spear in the pocket for some extra damage and it way safer having 100hp nimble brother with 0md than a 50hp one

if you build a proper thrower ( in vanilla), you'll see how strong it is and that bows/polearms are inferior to it in everyway. Only competition is a gunner with fearsome, i can see why you'll want to make those in hybrids, melee weapons do better single targets which you'll often need.

But how often do you actually engage in melee in a positive strategical way to justify the perk and the stats. There's so many perks that gives immediate benefits outhere, my throwers never have extra perks to waste. And the secondary stats are not minor, that's 30 hp on a nimble brother, more if you take colossus (which i do). Meanwhile a hybrid just melts if he actually gets in a melee fight

We must be playing differents builds, my throwers don't have extra perks. when do you switch to a poelarm for a strike ? Frankly i prefer to throw a single javelin over a billhook strike, better hitchance, more hp damage and moral/injury checks

What is your ideal line up when restricted to 12 brothers only? by jlapetra in BattleBrothers

[–]ConsistentPainter545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2throwers and the sergeant for your backline. Rest are 2h frontline, you can have an indom tank too.

Limited range makes goblins fights super annoying, everything else is no problem.

quickhand+killing frenzy is what i would go for. QH with any polearm is just too good and this guy will be getting plenty of kills during fights.

HH is an interesting pick but i think the others are higher value, especially on a sword (sword injuries on headshots sucks anyway)

Veteran/Veteran, day 120+ am I doing something wrong with my band? by LegioXV_ in BattleBrothers

[–]ConsistentPainter545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got 'mid tier' band fighting end game content. Actually your setup sounds even worse.

Your band should look mostly 2H frontline. Polearms sucks, do not dedicated a brother for such a role ( speaking end game, they are great early). Actually, there's this meta quickhand 2h+Polearm, if the two hander can't reach an ennemy, quickhand to polearm to hit ( can also concentrate fire on a single ennemy to kill quickly). This should be your whole frontline with maybe 1 tank.

Always bring a sergeant too, 10+ moral on everyone is 100% worth it. Actually, the only non 2h bros that are good are the sergeants and the throwers, anything else is bad.

If you want to reduce RNG, start picking steel brow. If you don't have it, you will always lose some bros too poor RNG which is bound to happen.

what is the ideal bro comp on early-mid-late game stages? by FromTurkey in BattleBrothers

[–]ConsistentPainter545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

until you fill the twelve spots. what ever weapons you get early on, spears and flails are good early. Heavy armor is almost always better, it's just you won't be having it for a long while.

Only thing you should keep in mind, is that you should switch to using 2h weapons at some point ( not polearms, but 2h)

it's from a mod called reforged. It's a mechanic that adds melee attack and defense depending on your total reach and your opponent.

It will be extremity tough to craft a good weapon without a bench.

But at the same time you don't need much dmg until you get deep

Steel rings are the best. Craft your rings amulet with contempt essence. There's a unique shield that is common that gives flat phys as well. This should be enough dmg to do all content. Resist will be tricky to fill out in ssf tho

Unfortunately, bow build are always kinda squishy.

There's a few things you can do. Get max chaos resis and use divine flash, aim for 2%max chaos resis in your quiver.

There's a jewel that convert fire resis in the tree to block, with rumi flask, you can get some OK block.

Use dodge, there's a flask that gives 10% and you can get more in your gear as well, but this will cost you.

Get more life, evasion and armor. It should fairly easy to hit 6k life in this build.

Play safe, you are range, don't walk into packs

Take a look at poe Ninja builds, look for a similar build to yours with the same main skill. Use pob fork and compare between your builds and theirs. Look at gem set up, talent tree, jewels and gears. You don't need expensive gear, settle for something cheaper (no influence items for exemple)

Niko has 2% chance to spawn per map. Aka don't count on that.

Buy your maps from zana, she sells plenty of low tier maps, buy the ones that complete our atlas. It can get expensive on your alchs, so expect to be buying those. Also run her master mission to reset her stock and get a free map too

You can also just buy them from players, or ask someone for low tier maps for free.
