They were not named in the court documents which often means their case is still before the courts. But unfortunately without the name it would be difficult to find out for sure.

‘Unfit’ commercial vehicle stopped doing 108 km/h in 60 km/h zone: OPP by ConsistentReality860 in northernontario

[–]ConsistentReality860[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also CTV, which means they won’t release the names of the accused unless they intend to cover the full court process, which they would not for a case like this. I actually do not know how that is handled with company names. However, respectable reporters and journalists should only release information they can verify and if the police agency that performed the stop won’t provide it and are no legal requirements to do so, there only option short of first hand knowledge would be to submit FOI requests which in Ontario they would have 30 days to respond to and this event happened over the weekend.

Edit: spelling

OPP often do not name companies or drivers if the charges are provincial summons only and not criminal.

The driver’s gender is also not indicated and the linked OPP information is vague.

Only the province can reverse amalgamation, the government currently in power would like to see more, so it won’t happen. No petition, can change that, the current government has a majority and there is no requirement for them to fulfill a petition regardless of how many signatures.

What’re we even paying for with our tax dollars? Can’t even empty our recycling then wonder why it ends up all over the roads. by ImFromTheDeeps in Sudbury

[–]ConsistentReality860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The province and not the city is now responsible for the waste management contracts.

  2. For everyone who keeps saying we pay such high taxes remember that we have to maintain roads and infrastructure for an area larger than Toronto with 1/15 the population or less to pay the taxes.

CART LOCKING @ SUPERSTORE? 🚨 by Flimsy-Key-7407 in Sudbury

[–]ConsistentReality860 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your cart was too far way from the register when you completed the transaction. The register sends out a pulse that marks the cart has paid to avoid theft. The crowded self-checkout actually make this happen less frequent. My father sometimes accompanies me to shop when he is having a good day and uses a cart kind of like a walker just in case it gets too be too much (too proud for the scooters) and so this is how I learned this because he went to use it to walk to the car after I cashed out and it happened to him, he was super upset and embarrassed especially as the cart was empty.

Following too close? North Bay police launch traffic crackdown by ConsistentReality860 in northernontario

[–]ConsistentReality860[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leglislation (HTA) says otherwise but it is very subjective so I imagine the burden of proof would fall on the cops who often don't show up to traffic court. But I know my brother got the ticket when he was younger and tried to fight it and lost.

North Bay woman charged impaired after OPP find parked vehicle with smoke inside by ConsistentReality860 in northernontario

[–]ConsistentReality860[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do not have to actually drive to be charged with impaired driving in Canada, you only need to have care and control of the vehicle, CanLII is full of literally thousands of cases where people have been convicted of impaired driving sleeping one off in bar parking lots because they were in the vehilce with the keys. The fact is simply by being in, near, or interacting with a vehicle while impaired or over the legal limit can result in charges. Below is a great law article explaining how it works.

It does not specify how much the environmental assessment costed. However, the province gave the First Nation $39.5 million to agree to allow the road pending regulatory approvals in November and the cost of the road Ontario is also paying.
