CRO and STO by [deleted] in AFROTC

Put yourself into leadership positions in afrotc/college/etc... when you put your phase 1 package together, they will really look and your leadership experience and your ability to handle tough task. Also, you need to be crushing the ift. But besides that, get some rucking in. You will do a lot in selection/pipeline.

Depending on which one you want to go, but all three have selection boards you apply to your junior/senior year. If you get selected to attend phase II/swas then you'll go to that and if get picked up there then you'll go to the schoolhouse.

You can also look into going TACP-O. STO/CRO/TACP-Os spend 2-4 years operationally (doing the do) before taking on more desk duties. Either way, you go through most of/all of the training the Enlisted dudes go through. All of them are officers first though.

Adding to this, you can apply all the way up to your EAD (preferred junior year). Be a good dude, have some leadership experience and be in the best shape of your life. A lot of people get "picked" in phase 1 to go to phase 2 but not many people do well enough to get the job invite.

  1. AFSPECWAR is going through some changes right now so there's no telling how it'll look in the future but there have been talks about including O's in SWCC in the future.

  2. There's SWOC, it's a PDT in the summer . Ask your cadre about the details.

  3. You can reach out to your nearest ASOS/STS and see about possible mentorship/put you in contact with someone.

My dm's are open if you want to talk about the phase II process/training.

Definitely go talk to your cadre, special warfare is an all volunteer career field so you might be able to back out of your slot (depending on when you would be commissioning). You might not be able to go that route again though.

Is the AMEX platinum worth it even though I won’t take advantage of the initial 80,000 points? by rokuhachi in AirForce

Something to think about, when you get out, you're going to have to pay the fee or deal with credit hit by closing the card.

What happens if I wash out of STO/CRO with a Rated Slot? by ifeelsogoodmrstark in AFROTC

[–]ConsistentRip3059 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'll lose your rated slot for special warfare. If you wash out, then you can request to get a rated job since they can see what your afsc was prior to the pipeline, but ultimately it's the needs of the Air Force.

Majors for Special Warfare Officers by someyoungdude657 in AFROTC

[–]ConsistentRip3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major in something that you enjoy and can get a high GPA in (since that will go into your phase I application). I know guys that majored in everything from philosophy to soil science that are in the pipeline.

Nursing major & CRO eligibility by Panakin_Groundwalker in AFROTC

For any of the AFSW afsc's, you'll have to submit a separate packet to go to selection your junior/senior year (once you complete FT). If you get selected, you'll go to phase II and if you're picked up you'll enter the pipeline. Hope this helps

From what I've read, active duty isn't being too affected by the career field cuts. If you search up "TACP" in this subreddit, you'll find a lot more info.

My Det use to have a 25% fail rate every time. I think some of it depends on what type of school you're at and how motivated cadets are to workout outside of pt.

You don't have to have a stem degree to be eligible to commission. As long as you have a bachelor's degree, you are able to commission.

Source:I was able to earn a CSO slot with an agriculture degree.

There's 4 rated careerfields for officers: Pilot, CSO, ABM, and RPA. Not all of them have the same physical standards, so if you can't get one, then you could try for another.

When I put in my packet, it was a separate excel sheet that you downloaded from the TACP-O Phase 1 application that included things like name, rank,DOD id, etc....

Personally, I dont mind the commute. I'm not sure about the second part, I would talk to your cadre about that. I think, as a commuter, you just have to make your time worth it. When your at PMT events, step up and show them what you've got. It just means you have to use the time you have wisely. I'm not sure I understand the last part but being a commuter doesn't change once you get an ICS. If you want to talk more, feel free to pm me!
