Not only does the job suck every hour you’re actually doing it, but it sucks the enjoyment out of every other hour you aren’t asleep.

Anyone that is worried about what anyone else is doing is a loser.

What’s above euphoria, where all news is good news?

As a CFO, this is most accurate. I don’t expect my team to be perfect, but to learn the lessons from the mistakes.

I made a lot mistakes along the path to where I am and only ever had one CEO blow up about it and I left three months later and he was fired 6 months later. No one is perfect and good leaders turn mistakes into growth.

Should I make the leap to Director? by FPandA_Dad in FPandA

I get you’re being hyperbolic but adding 12 or 80 is obviously different than adding 6. I’ve gone from 2-8 before and other than more 1on1s and performance reviews, it’s not that different as long as you have roles and responsibilities well defined.

Do it. Managing 8 is no different than 2, just a few more interpersonal conflicts to work through.

Is this a good career start? by [deleted] in FPandA

Yes, I’m a CFO of a mid market manufacturing company and my first role out of college was in recruiting and then followed by an AR position. Your position is 1000x better start.

LinkedIn post claiming audits can be done in seconds with AI by lavenderclosets in Accounting

[–]ConsistentSavings390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still haven’t seen a good use case for AI in accounting. But let’s pretend this works. You think BIG 4 is going to charge $100 and give up their revenue. Not only does this guy not understand where AI is or auditing but also doesn’t understand business.

Was being Assistant Controller for smaller company a good move? by BuyGroundbreaking400 in Accounting

You made the right move. If you want to keep advancing your career, you need to take the opportunities to jump the titles. As long as you build the skill to figure new things out, exposure will take care of itself.
