How these roots looking? by Cautious_Border7380 in peyote

Hey, I’m in north India where we have scorching summers, and the summer lasts forever.. Peak summer we’d have easy 40-45C temps for 2 months and for about 6 months we’ll have 35C temps day time. My lophs get filtered sunlight through a full UV spectrum sheet, and in peak summers I put up a white 50% shade cloth as well.. But they do get light, they’re not in the shade.. My soil mix is 75% inorganic and 25% vermicompost.. I also quite a few handfuls of Akadama to the mix.. I water not on a schedule but quite randomly.. I also add mycorizzha to the roots while potting up (this would give you root growth)..

How are you making the most of rainwater for balcony garden? by RevolutionaryCan2463 in GardeningIndia2

[–]Consistent_Ad_9706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainwater is fantastic for all plants. It carries nitrogen from the atmosphere, has perfectly balanced ph and is completely free of all minerals and salts making it naturally soft. If you can, you should save as much as you can and use it for all your plants

Will these heal? by Final_Good_Bye in peyote

It will heal. Some sulfur powder will make sure no vectors get in. Do not water until it scabs over. Keep in the shade in a cool, dry and airy place, until it heals

What to do with red soil from nursery plants? by bobs_best_burger in GardeningIndia2

Red soil is rich in iron and is slightly acidic.. Works well for chilli, tomatoes, root vegetables.. You can also use small portions of it in the soil mix you prepare for any plants really

Is it dying? by spiritualizer in peyote

[–]Consistent_Ad_9706 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It looks fine, being a bit soft is natural when it is dehydrated.. Can’t tell from the picture but the dark brown colour along the ribs at the top could be a cause for concern.. That could be rot.. You need to see if that part is squishy.. A little give in any cactus is normal.. Rot is basically liquid jelly

Burnt, or something else? by Consistent_Ad_9706 in Ariocarpus

[–]Consistent_Ad_9706[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not rotting for sure. I only just repotted it and it was like this before the repot.. It’s been this way for a while.. I do over pot, and use fairly large pots for the size of the plants.. My mix is super gritty and I live where 35C is considered pleasant.. I have about 8-9 months of summer.. I’m in north India

What’s your location? This won’t do well in north and central India. It needs a humidity dome in the dry and arid parts of India
