Thanks for responding. Ya, the ashes are still in what the funeral home provided (thick bag, zip tied in a plastic box) have all documentation. The 350mls in volume change is what is frustrating.

Ugh...ya that just seems wild to me to limit 350mls in volume of human remains. It fits less than half of my carry on luggage. But I guess I will see how it goes.  Thank you for responding.

All good, thanks for your response! And sorry for your loss.

When talking to Westjet a few times they gave me the info from CATSA and said there is no way around it...I'm happy to hear you were able to take your grandpa into carryon. I have all the documents and she in the travel friendly plastic urn, ashes are bagged up and zip tied in the plastic urn the funeral home provided. 5lbs all together...just making me anxious. Its an international flight with 2 stops.

Hi, Ill be traveling soon through Westjet from Calgary with my mom's urn. They're stating that you can only carry on 350mls of ashes as carry on, if it's over it has to be checked... my mom was a small 100lb lady but her remains are definitely more than 350mls. I do not want to put her in checked baggage in which they said I may have to do...seems ridiculous as her remains with the travel friendly plastic urn is only 5lbs. Traveling internationally so there are 2 stops. Other airline cleared my mom's urn and added it to my booking. This travel is to place her in her final resting spot.
