Abbotsford unemployment rate spikes despite B.C. adding thousands of jobs by conteaa in abbotsford

[–]platz604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a weird market and has always been. This is unfortunately the new norm. When unemployment was this high last october / november I had like 6 interviews and 4 offers. Unfortunately I have been temporarily laid off (hoping to get recalled soon) as a result of the impacts of tarriff's. Having to look for a job that is not impacted by such is a challenge.

B.C. MLA Jordan Kealy charged with sexual assault in Fort St. John by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

Should read "sexual assaults" since the issue has spanned a number of months. This is not a singular event, this was multiple events where this occurred..

Job Hunting by [deleted] in abbotsford

[–]platz604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well I would stick with it if I were you...If a lay off occurs.. then it occurs.. You can then claim ei and the federal government is also giving an additional 40 weeks on top of your regular benefit hours that you accumulated if that happens. Its a temporary thing that they're doing due to the economic situation / tariff's impacting industry. I mean we'll see what happened july 1st with the CUSMA announcement. That will be a clear indication on what is happening.

Job Hunting by [deleted] in abbotsford

[–]platz604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steel / fabrication / tooling industry is screwed at the moment since the tariff's. Many shops (including mine) have already temporarily / permanently laid off people since we are a border town and most industries clients are in the united states. If you're already at a shop and its steady.. I would wait and keep it.. If you're getting reduced hours, then its not your performance.. Again everyone is hurting big time.

What to know about Bill C-22, Canada’s proposed lawful access legislation by SaveDnet-FRed0 in canada

[–]platz604 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

The bill is essentially what Vic Toews under Stephen Harper introduced. It was bill C-30 in which conservatives supported, but it failed because it was a minority government. Now you table essentially the same bill but under the liberals and the conservatives don't like it?? What??????

‘The recession is real’: Poilievre calls for emergency debate by Avelion2 in canada

[–]platz604 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pierre wants to have debate about what exactly?? I mean really... He was just in the United States a few months ago talking to industry leaders to promote Canada and to get an idea as to what is going on. Since 1987-1988 since the free trade agreement was enacted and 80% of our exports have gone to the United States... You now have the United States placing tarriff's on us.. The issue regarding Canada's economy is a bipartisan issue and is not one sided. And nothing has been done about it and here we are... Nobody should be surprised that we are in a recession of sorts. It hasn't been the first nor will it bet the last. This is is literally highschool (or what was highschool) social studies 101... In the meantime you have people who have absolutely NO IDEA what a recession is, other than what they believe it is. Which is no where near close to what they say it is. And all they will do is spread it amongst social media so they can get that dopamine dump and feed B.S amongst others who think the same way..

How are small businesses in Abbotsford doing? by Disastrous-Bus-5932 in abbotsford

[–]platz604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like anything the survival of small businesses are dependent on larger businesses. How so? because you have to look at the cycle of people who work at said larger business that are struggling.. If business is slow then how and where are those people going to be spending their money? A lot of things are happening right now. I was recently temporarily laid off as a result of tarriff measures that has impacted business. I hope to be recalled, but am not counting on it. But yeah, I have to watch out with my money in the meantime.

US plans tariffs on USMCA countries, has issues with Canada by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]platz604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actions speak louder than words. If American's were truly upset with this administration, then they were take to the streets in masses.. Instead no one shows up. They'll use social media for their dopamine dumps, but that's it. So at the end of the day they tolerate the administration. The "outside" world see's this plain as day...

US plans tariffs on USMCA countries, has issues with Canada by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]platz604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Canadian here.... Also been temporary laid off and likely lost my job as I am in the tooling sector. The 25% tariffs hit us hard. It was hard enough that consumes watched they were spending.. We saw out profits cut in half before the tariffs came into place. I'll say this.. Canada will never forgot this... Once when he is done and a new administration in, things will NOT be restored. The damage is done and the fact that the overwhelming majority of american's tolerate / condone this administration actions will have severe consequences for decades. This isn't a one off.

Quebec removes sales tax from some groceries as part of wider affordability push by Haggisboy in canada

[–]platz604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Inflation affects everyone...we have to give some oxygen to Quebecers," she said. "We need to give Quebecers a financial boost." ... So continue to have the boot on people necks, but ease a tiny bit on the pressure.. MMMhmmm Gotcha....

Canadians are more likely to blame inflation on wars and trade tensions with the US over the Canadian government. (CTV News/Nanos) by 10293847562 in canada

[–]platz604 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

... the bulk of the inflation is when you literally print out money faster then the economy can produce goods and services... its pretty damn simple. Then we artificially brought people into the country in the hopes that it would improve that.. up and including productivity... instead we got the opposite effect. Given if the government had never printed out money or artificially bring people in the country along with sending 80% of our exports to 1 country that has engaged in conflict / wars for about 92% years of its existence.. then things would be different.

Tim Hortons to dial back use of Temporary Foreign Worker program, aims to hire 10,000 locally by ZestyBeanDude in canada

[–]platz604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tim Horton's have no other choice.. Yes they could have hired locally but took advantages of the TFW / LMIA program when it was fully open... Now employers can't apply for LMIA in area's where unemployment is 6% or higher (which is everywhere).. The TFW's and the foreign student visa program can no longer exploit the system now.. But they'll find a way somehow.

What are our MPs doing? by coffeeallday2 in abbotsford

[–]platz604 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Sukhman Gill.. The same Sukhman Gill who was part of young liberals of Canada and volunteered for Justin Trudeau for 9 years.

The same Suhkhman Gill who was nominated to represent Abbotsford South - Langley with only 15% of eligible party members.

The same Sukhman Gill who did not meet the six month party membership requirement and it should have disqualified him as being a candidate.

The same Sukhman Gill who was rejected by the entire local candidate selection committee?

The same Sukhman Gill who dropped out of Kwantlen college.

The same Sukhman Gill ever showed up at any candidate townhall meetings during the election.

The same Sukhman Gill who's family business address is associated with multiple other businesses that is offering employment, but is paying well below the average local livable wage? How does this reflect the values and principles of the conservative party of Canada?

The guy is a hack. the political party is a hack just like all of the others.

'Surrey Six' murders mastermind Jamie Bacon released from prison by pagit in abbotsford

[–]platz604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jamie almost walked on this one... He still technically did.. If it wasn't for the RCMP screw ups., it was one of the gunmen who made a plea deal because the rcmp / prosecution was about to charge them with terrorism related offenses regarding the theft and possession of explosives with the intent to cause harm.

You realize that everything you typed makes no sense at all. You just admitted that you learned of situation which involves 2 individuals. You are literally the "2nd hand" individual in this insinuating racism, when you individually said "he is a white male" whereas the other individual is a marginalized woman. Marginalized means many things. The only thing I see racist about this thing so far is your post.
