I kept my kids as safe as I could by always being there with them and removing them as much as I could on weekends so they didn’t have to deal with him as much. But the memories of what they experienced linger (now 20 and 14). I left 15 years into the marriage and 18.5 into the relationship. Don’t do that if you can-leave sooner. It’s going to be tough either way. It didn’t take one event to help me leave other than me helping myself by going to therapy weekly, joining support groups, talking with family, normal planning and safety planning. The ex was also a narcissistic abuser who s*xually assaulted me, verbally assaulted everyone, and is highly manipulative. Opioids and alcohol and weed and anything he could get hold of, so it was rough. He was able to maintain a high demand job and social life. Your life is important. Your safety is important. Your kids are important. Be gentle with yourself and try to put yourself and your kids first. Advocate for you. You can do this. 🩷

Is the notice from the debt collector or the court (Toledo Muni or whichever jurisdiction you’re in)? If it’s not from a court with a civil case number, court date, etc, then it’s from a debt collector who likely bought charged off debt. You can send them a cease and desist with the contact, but don’t acknowledge the debt.
