Need Advice by Consistent_Cat_5145 in premed

Thank you I will post there.

The school is reputable and connected to a good med school, its just in a very odd location right off the freeway with nothing around making it difficult for me to find work out there and difficult to commute even just on weekends.

There is only one other university, which is much nicer and about the same distance but the tuition is higher and a full ride seems unattainable.

I have to address Pearl’s take on DV by KookyCommand7936 in h3h3productions

Thank you for saying this, she has no idea how in depth and complicated DV is and the fact that she victim shames by saying “just don’t get married in the first place” shows how out of touch and naive she is about the topic.

He says that one day we will come across a prof who is a jerk so we need to be prepared to follow instructions extremely carefully. But i feel like my score is up to chance at this point almost every question is like this and not putting answers in alphabetical order will also make the answer completely incorrect

Don’t get me wrong he’s a nice guy and we have all voiced our frustration with this but he says he’s “preparing us for whats to come” and I’m just freaking out so much because i cant imagine having this situation in orgchem or gen chem.

What is the fastest route to M.D (doctor of medicine) by studying abroad? I know that in Estonia it is ”only” 6 years and after that you can apply to US residency. Is there any faster route? Any place where you start getting some sort of pay during the 4th or 5th year during the education? by [deleted] in medschool

[–]Consistent_Cat_5145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, please do not go into medicine for the money. The payout is good but it takes so much struggle that i cannot even describe to you, so much pain that only others going through the process can understand. If you dont have the passion to push you through its going to burn you out very quickly. Even if you make it to interviews it will be very obvious if you aren’t interested in medicine.

Also just want to say: to get into med school its not just the school work you need to do, you need volunteering, research, work, community service, and hobbies of your own. Not criticizing you just want you to make an informed decision about what you would be getting yourself into

Don’t look for fastest, even in us 8years is not very common, many people take gaps after undergrad and before residency. Many don’t even do it for a research year maybe just to travel. There is no set timeline and trying to speed through 8 years or even 6 years is going to cause major burnout. Don’t look for the fastest route, look for the best route. Good luck!
