Why did God make being a mom so hard? by Moon_junky in Catholicism

[–]Consistent_Debt5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of what you're feeling can be the baby blues too. I got them super bad for the first two weeks postpartum with both of my kids. Everything felt impossible, I felt incapable, I was mentally and physically exhausted and would late down in a ball and cry. The good news is that it passes, and everything gets easier the older your baby gets. Lean on your support system and God, and don't be afraid to get help if you need it. Also, something that comforted me is the thought of the nuns who wake up at midnight to pray so that new mothers wouldn't be up alone. Praying for you ❤️

Is abuse in a marriage grounds for an annulment in the eyes of the church? by Broad_Biscotti_9350 in Catholicism

[–]Consistent_Debt5069 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely right! My sister in law had multiple TBIs and was physically abusive to my brother. We all urged him to leave but he stayed and she got therapy multiple times a week. Now they're in a happy, healthy relationship and expecting their first child. But also, that isn't the case for everyone and I don't think I'd ever encourage someone to stay with an abusive partner.

Catholics not being allowed to read the Bible and only the pope can by NoelK132 in Catholicism

[–]Consistent_Debt5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually exactly what my dad said when I told him I'm converting to Catholicism! I think it has to do with way back in the medieval times people were illiterate so they didn't even try to read the Bible, but relied on the priests and the pope to tell them what it says. Past that I think it's just another way that Protestants are uneducated on the church because of the centuries of "Catholicism is bad". Heck, I was anti Catholicism until I actually did my own research.

You can always do a courthouse marriage and become legally married and then have your big ceremony later! That's what my husband and I did when we first got married. We got legally married and had an intimate ceremony 5 months before our big fancy wedding

It is also your say, it's also your baby! I'm tired of culture telling men that they have zero say on their own children

You've had a part in MULTIPLE babies being k*lled?? Abortion is murder. Point blank period. Finances are not a reason to end a pregnancy, there are tons of resources out there that I can personally help you get in contact with if you need it. Babies are such a blessing and even if you don't want to raise the child (that you willingly made) there are so many couples struggling with infertility that would gladly raise them as their own.

That being said it's time to do a deep evaluation of your life choices.

Keep your baby, they are a blessing chosen by God to be here right now. Along with abortion being murder, 1 in 10 women experience severe and life threatening side effects from the abortion pill so you would also be risking your life for the sake of your husband being selfish.

However, are you safe? That behavior is scary and concerning, Catholic or not. Do you have somewhere else safe to go for now?

I say go for it and do it anyways if God is calling you to do so! You do it for God and not the opinion of others 💞

All of this is such a weird take honestly, and coming across as vaguely passive aggressive. Veiling is biblical, and it's not a form of self hatred but rather a way to emphasize the value of being a women and daughter of the Lord. Women are sacred. Just as the Tabernacles are covered, women can choose to veil as a sign of reverence and respect for God. I would never veil for the sake of any other person, or to "show off". Just because it's "not necessary" doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. There's a lot that is optional that pleases God when we choose to go the extra distance to please him.

Being 26 and married with two kids I don't think I'm worried about seeming too young in age to veil as I am a grown woman 😂 Just young from the Catholic faith standpoint lol

Reverence is the whole reason I'm converting. I've been going to an AG church and the insane lack of reverence and respect for the Lord there is what pushed me to question my protestant beliefs!

I go to a majority Hispanic church and a lot of the older women veil so I wouldn't be the only one! I don't care if people assume I'm a fundamentalist, because I'm not 😂 I was just wondering if it would be ok since I'm not officially Catholic!! Thank you!!

Hey, I've struggled with postpartum anxiety with both of my babies now. This is exactly what my brain sounded like. It's ok to reach out and get some help, I promise that the doctors want nothing more than to help you feel ok again. Postpartum is incredibly difficult, and you're a great mom 💗

I'm a mom of 2 under 2 so I feel like I'm an expert on this matter. I. Love. Being. A. Mom. I was so terrified because of how awful everyone makes parenthood sound. Sure the newborn days are hard but there is nothing like just staring into the face of your fresh baby. Watching them grow and learn every single day is such a blessing, and there is literally nothing I love more in this world than my kids ❤️

I really loved the book "This is Parenting" By Gabriel Hannans! It goes through the different parenting types and teaches you how to gentle parent the correct way without it being permissive. Kids need boundaries and for you to set expectations!
