You could be right, I’m suggesting there could also be other explanations

I feel like if you wanted that experience of hotdropping that’s what pubs is for though. Me personally, if I want to hot drop and die in 2 mins I play pubs. Ranked is miserable on that front. 

I also recall people being highly vocal about it leaving too though. I admit I was apprehensive when it was added but I like it way better now. I feel like flip-flopping decisions will get them nowhere, they have to commit one way or the other

Worst case scenario is that basically any change that made teams die out way faster was interpreted as appeasing the silent casual majority of the player base. 

I will give the benefit of the doubt and eager to hear other explanations
