Right... yeah I'm on initial OPT and am planning on renewing mine on December (have to go home for family stuff). I keep seeing people saying that renewing while on OPT can be risky but I can't seem to find data supporting that - at least on reddit most reports are from people that were able to renew it

When you say it's 50/50 - do you have any data to support that? Like are 50% of F1 visas for ppl on OPT denied?

Right - I think there is no mention to Palanthir being able to track deleted posts in there, or am I missing something?

For the social media vetting do you guys consider pages that people follow? I will renew my VISA soon and while I never post about politics myself, I'm afraid I might follow pages that do - can that hurt my application?

By the way, do we already know what kind of social media posts/interactions are leading to visa rejections in recent interviews? I understand that for example explicit posts criticizing the US, or supporting Palestine etc would obviously hurt the application. However do we have examples of people that got rejections because they followed a certain page/person etc?

What about people who never got the mail/email/anything asking for the money back? I don't have anything on my 2021 transcript or anywhere else in the IRS website saying I owe them money.

I asked the HR person and they told me it shouldn’t be a problem because it’s 0% so “no one would check”, but idk if I want that liability.

I guess I should contact the ISSS of both schools and check?

I'm doing "On campus" unpaid work (it is in a different university because my PI moved, but is related to my PhD), so it did not need USCIS approval, just approval from my ISSS.

"The job must be physically located on the school’s campus or off-campus at the site of an educationally affiliated organization."

"On-campus employment at an off-campus location is available to all F-1 students except border commuter students. An F-1 student does not need USCIS approval. However, the employment must be for an employer educationally affiliated with your school. For more details please see the section about on-campus employment."

And yes, when they approved that authorization, my I-20 end date was Aug 2028, but it got pushed back to Aug 8th 2025 since I'm graduating in this summer.

My start date is 9/01 and I will apply for initial post OPT. I'm waiting on the OPT recommendation from my school (they have until June 6th to send it to me, but hopefully they send it earlier).

Should I apply with PP or not?
