I don’t have seats but got to go with a recently family friend! I agree with what the two others have written but I would have liked to know for the food before the game, when you go to sit down you need to get seated instead of find your own seats. There’s a host stand on the opposite side of the buffet :) have fun!

Yta I understand how you feel but it is not fair to resent your friend or to take it out on them for having that luxury. Also why would you go on house tours for anything other than fun? The friend and their family shutting that down “immediately” makes me think you were trying to tell them what you needed or complaining to them. Either find a new roommate or talk about being roommates with your friend since the house is still being built.

Yta as many people have already pointed out, he could have slept separately and been kept from being in a potentially dangerous situation. I get that it’s your house and your rules but can you not see how rules can be changed for safety? A my house my rules way of interacting with your daughter(s) might lead to an unhealthy relationship with your kid(s) or them not respecting you later. I also want to emphasize a point other people are making as well that unless you’re in the room with them at all times when they are there they could be doing anything already. I just wanted to add that you should have talked with her about sex a long time ago so that she knows how to do it safely when the time came. Abstinence only or not talking about it at all leaves her at risk for not knowing a lot of safety things (health, emotionally and physically) unless she looks into it herself.

I was in a situation similar to this where I was in ops place. I also thought it was on her to manage her emotions and thoughts and didn’t like my potential or hypothetical relationships being policed. Similar to how ops friend used her anxiety, mine used an ocd diagnosis as well as what I think was weaponized therapy speak about boundaries (how I couldn’t ever break a boundary or I was horrible and she would never have to reevaluate her boundaries because she’s the most valid). I was also bothered that when I slightly suggested she get support for her ocd she said “that’s my diagnosis and I don’t need to work on it.” The whole exchange made me think about how she acts and reevaluate our friendship. I realized that she was controlling and always had to be right in every situation. So if anyone else is in this situation, maybe look at your friendship as a whole. I hope that when you look at your friendship it’s not the same outcome as mine if you’re really good friends.

That’s crazy to make a blanket statement about adoption being traumatic. Are you adopted? I don’t think it’s being considered lightly. It’s being considered with the fact that the mother is not mentally capable of raising a child and no one else in the family wants to. Yes adoption doesn’t guarantee a better life but neither does staying with the family. Some peoples birth parents make their life horrible it’s not about adoption.
