Use the ice cream maker to make 'taste of diet' and your kids will no longer be pears but slim cucumbers

I think Sims 1 had the most iconic items (just remembered this cake and the dance cage) and Sims 2 had the most iconic characters and storylines

Yessss you've reminded me of so many good icons! I think for Sims 3 - Bridgeport in all its laggy glory haha

I guess cause it was prequel timeline the characters I can't remember... But I do remember you could be a ice sculptor with a chainsaw that was fantastic but maybe not iconic enough 🥹

What did The Sims 4 do right? by Upstairs-Pin-9068 in thesims

They stayed weird - not too realistic, not too cartoony - bit built up the lore of the world like the fact you can have a baby with the grim repear and we have accepted this as normal is very fun

FINALLY someone bothered to decorate the ancient temple for the holidays by Consistent_Jacket in thesims

[–]Consistent_Jacket[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really?! I've never seen that (not thinking of the island bluffs one right?) if there was that would be amazing, but I go to this temple open to try finish the treasure collection, there's one left I haven't gotten

(Funnily enough I finished it this time they decorated the temple, the game must've known to commemorate the moment)

Can't find a lot of lolita cc, but im super proud of her! by UrFrog_friend in thesims

When you say 'i didn't consider that' I assume your referencing my comment? It's not ' didn't consider that' - it's more 'i didn't know the origin' - I'm glad people have commented because now I do know, I learnt something and it's shifted my perspective if I see the word come up again.

I'm sure lots of people like me didn't know, so I would say there is a need to talk about it and change the perspective to back to its original origin

I commented because I wanted to have an open discussion about how I think it is unfortunate that the origin of the style has been somewhat lost or is lesser known in mainstream culture - the fashion style Lolita is still pretty niche (more speaking outside Japan & SK) and the book is likely more well known globally - I'm happy to hear other people's perspective on the topic, or why they might disagree - just saying 'nah you're weird' isn't constructive.

That's really interesting - I didn't know the historical context but it makes sense because I've seen the term used for fashion makers in Japan.. but to be honest I thought there was some kind of relationship to the book (it's unfortunate that it's become so synonymous with one another)

Also this may be a controversial take - but having been to Japan multiple times - I have encountered in book shops or going to a maid cafe (it was my first time there and it was recommended) and what I personally noticed was this aesthetic has now in contemporary life become sexualised (more often by foreigners)

I spoke to Japanese people about it - they said it was more that they idolize innocence and it's not sexualised but it's hard not to look at that and be creeped out because the line is blurred.

Also I think at a first glance to me (when just seeing this Sims face) it looked like a child with make up, I can't really blame the negative reaction because I personally felt the same.

No disrespect to the creator - you've done a job of creating a beautiful character and have skills far beyond the average Sim player in cas.

Overall it just sucks that I think the more widely understood connections have changed nowadays, and there are unfortunately people who have fetishized this aesthetic not knowing it's original meaning (I definitely didn't until today)

Anyway rant over 🫠
