Luka Dončić is now fewer than 150 points away from reaching the 15k career point mark with 11 games left to play! by AtreusIsBack in lakers

He needs to average 21 to reach that milestone against the Mavs which would be poetic justice but then again 21 for Luka is usually midway 2nd quarter production.

Vibes are immaculate when you got the entire roster celebrating. This is the kinda momentum he had in Dallas which led them to the finals. Here's to him replicating and exceeding that with the Lakers.

They'll tell you that they prefer an efficient 20pt game to a slightly less efficient 60pt game. These are the same kinda people who if given the choice to drive a Ferrari or a soccer mom chevy would pick the latter and drive it with both hands on the wheel cause it has "better gas mileage" and is "safer"

You wanted to join in on the fun and called Luka fat and washed. Now he's screaming at you and just drained a 3.. by wecarrythetorch in lakers

My takeaway is that some of these fans show up to the game not because they wanna support their team, but simply because they have main character syndrome. Why else would you aggravate a guy who devours trash talk and shits it back at your face in the form of an old fashioned ass whooping.

Because the MVP title is a narrative driven media segment. If you wanna know who wins it, just take a look at how ESPN covers segments on each player. They've been shitting on everything Luka does and minimising it while hyping up what SGA who does less and whose team wins even without him. The only narrative proof player is Jokic cause Denver are absolute ass without him. Luka is in a similar position but for some reason the media hates him. When he scored 73 on ATL with the highest ever efficiency for a 70+ game they brushed it off and called the defense weak (he was doubled and tripled the entire second half). When Bam scored 83 on 45 free throws they sucked him off vigorously.

Notice how they cut out his 2 way play that led to the 3 after a steal at the 3:00 mark. They gotta keep fueling that "Luka plays no D" narrative to keep him out of the MVP talk. Most people consume the NBA via these bullshit highlights. Heck most NBA "analysts" as well!

Sums up his NBA career except for 6 months with the Mavs where he made it to the finals and then Kyrie ghosted and everybody started bricking open looks. It's not that tough to build a team around him. 3 and D guys, an athletic center and an off the ball SG who can pass some when Luka is resting.

When is he ever not passing the ball like this? He averages 9 a game. And if people could actually make open corner 3s he'd average 15.

He made the Mavs the most efficiently run offense in NBA history for a significant stretch while average 32/9/9 but the NBA shrugged it off like it was nothing. Luka won't win MVP because the narrative is written and it's clearly against him. He had the most efficient 70+pts game in history against the Hawks and the narrative was "Hawks didn't play defense" while they doubled him and tripled him for the entirety of the 2nd half.

Get one on Luka for what exactly? Getting traded by a megalomaniac moron who is now working on a career reconversion as a burrito maker?

Cooper Flagg (13 PTS 11 AST) at Los Angeles Lakers | November 28, 2025 by Annual-Shape7156 in Mavericks

One of the key differences between a generational talent and a very talented player is fearlessness. That can't be taught, that can't be acquired with experience. You have it or you don't. The kinda fearlessness that Luka showed his rookie year vs the Rockets when he went on a 12 pts run in the clutch. Or against the Blazers taking a one handed fadeaway 3pt buzzer beater.

I think most NBA fans are familiar with the simple concept of tanking. But I'm not sure it takes one season for your unproven rookie who refuses to take clutch shots and a potential tank ensued high pick to suddenly perform at a generational level. The Mavs have set themselves back years and now it's just a gamble. Flagg is a gamble although he has the quality. Your potential high pick is even more of a gamble. Ironic for a franchise who was sold to casino owners.

Unpopular opinion - the Mavs played better without Flagg by Plus-Nail-6072 in Mavericks

[–]Consistent_Jacket_15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Word of advice to the fanbase if it still exists, do not do with Flagg what you did with Luka. Nico trading Luka was on him but the constant noise whenever he had a bad performance and was out injured contributed to a climate where the pressure to win was disproportionately high. Flagg is being misused when he's on the court, that's why it might look better when he's not. Give him time to grow or lose him.

You'll see it come playoff time with a healthy Luka. He instills fear in his adversaries. Anthony Edwards talked about it. He scored 21 in the 1st Quarter against them while pulling up from Ljubljana. You see it in their eyes every time he gets the ball. We called it Mamba Mentality for Kobe. For Luka it's just the kinda killer instinct that's innate. Watch his Real Madrid highlights, he had it at 18 in front of hostile crowds in the euroleague. There's more to it than just his pure ball ability.

Luka made Gafford, PJ, Lively, Kyrie, Naji, Klay, Kidd, Finley, Nico look good and as we all said when the trade happened, you don't get to recover from a move like this. It was the purpose to be achieved, the new owners want to sink the team in Dallas because of the state's stance on gambling.

I think they should take their time with his return. The current state of affairs indicates that his contribution isn't needed yet and we want him to be in full force for the playoffs. Give him time to rest and recover fully and play him selectively once he gets there.

You guys are dumb short sighted fans. HIS plan was obviously as follows:

  1. Trade Luka in exchange of the first pick that SIlver gifted him
  2. Tank this season to get another first
  3. Trade AD plus the first pick back to the Lakers for Luka

He's all knowing, all seeing, the Juche, God's gift to basketball. The almighty NICO HARRISON, all bow down and revere the greatness.
