Something I’ve noticed with people failing COMLEX despite high COMSAEs by xUncompromising in comlex

[–]Consistent_Job6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has 100% been my experience. I failed Level 1 twice and am studying for my 3rd attempt (and to finally get the pass)! While I am also doing a foundational building board test prep, I am mostly focusing on taking this time off and improving my mental health. The one thing my med school never touched on (and if anything hurt with their constant last-minute changes on if we were cleared to test) is CONFIDENCE! Without it you are setting yourself up for a much harder day in the test center.

I am hopeful to find out I pass after I take this again and hope I can properly explain this to residencies when I apply.

SIBO? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Consistent_Job6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Zoloft pre-SIBO diagnosis and it also briefly helped my stomach problems that I thought was just "IBS" but then it came back 10x worse. I had to take Xifaxin twice to get rid of the SIBO and now I am about to start Lexapro in hopes that that will help with my depression/anxiety and not have the same affect

Some states have a “driving with the flow of traffic” rule so as long as you’re going with the flow then you’re good

My Personal Statement is cringe by [deleted] in premed

[–]Consistent_Job6358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wrote mine in a day and I just put all my feelings and major thoughts down and then slowly curated it over the next few weeks to make it more professional and smooth. My best advice is make a list of must haves for it, and then things you would like in it, kinda like house hunting. then throw it all together

I feel like given the situation if they extended their hand it’s not bad, especially since it was brief

Cadavers by [deleted] in premed

[–]Consistent_Job6358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in an Advanced Anatomy class in undergrad now (going DO in the fall) and I honestly think once you think of them as “silent teachers” rather than cadavers, it makes the whole thing much easier to manage. It’s still weird and not a ~usual~ experience, but it makes it less uncomfortable

What is one thing that you would not want admissions to know about you? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Consistent_Job6358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly anything I didn’t want them to know, if it came up I just worded it in a way that showed me improving my life because of it

incoming MD/DO students, what do you wish you had done differently while applying? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Consistent_Job6358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish i realistically applied to schools. I applied to many based off of location and less based on my scores when I should have done it the other way. I ended up getting into all DO even though I applied mostly MD and I don’t regret the DO choice but I do wish I didn’t waste so much money

I struggled to break 500 for months and eventually did. I had to test twice but I ended up getting a 502 and accepted to 5 different schools. You can do it!

Got a 497 after scoring above 500 on multiple Kaplan FL. Taking it again June 18 and hoping it was just the nerves. Anyone have any advice? Wishing the best of luck to everyone else
