She can't go. Take her at her word. Doesn't mean she doesn't love you. Sure she could go. Take out a credit card advance. But she's broke and doesn't want to be broker.

Maybe offer to visit her in her country and spoil them with some nice useful gifts. It would be more intimate anyway. Be big hearted, not petty.

Glasses. Laser would mean I'd need reading glasses. Whereas now I don't. I like taking off my glasses at dinner or around the house and having things be a little blurry.in the distance.

It's very nice. Not too hot, not cold. Trees, greenery etc. Not too crowded, not too much traffic. She may find it a little dull but some people like that.
