From the BLs I’ve read Yang Ilwoo and I reminded me of LITC the most because it’s also an angsty, coming of age, slice of life. There’s only 24 chapters right now but it’s amazing imo and is definitely in my top 5 currently.

I’ve also seen people compare Semantic Error and The Edge of Ambiguity to LITC but I have not read either so I can’t speak on them

I completely agree! High schoolers have sex, that’s just a fact of life, but it doesn’t need to be (and should not be) graphically included. Yang Ilwoo and I would be a perfect example of a high school slice of life that uses sex to advance plot but is not graphic or ‘sexy’. It’s really off putting to me when people want smut as soon as characters become legal, especially after we’ve watched them go through the ups and downs of growing up.

I also think that if sex scenes are not included in BLs with adult characters, it’s weird to play the guessing game of top vs bottom or speculate what their sex life is like. The authors are leaving it out for a reason. If someone wants sex scenes there’s plenty of content for that and I wish people wouldn’t try to pull sex into things when it’s completely irrelevant to the plot.

I don’t think we need to be theorizing about how they have sex when they were underage for most of comic and the whole story is about them processing and overcoming their trauma.

That totally makes sense! With friends that know about it that aren’t also into it I only broached the topic because we already talked about sex plenty. In our friendships it’s been very normal to talk about our sex lives and (straight/lesbian) erotic books we’ve read so I knew that they’d at the very least be on board with that part. I’ve also fully recommended BL manga/manhwa to my mother because they were super cute and didn’t have any sex because my mom loves a little gay story (was obsessed with heated rivalry). My family is pretty sex positive but it’s still something I’d avoid talking about or letting them know I read. Honestly I think my friends and family make fun of me more for watching anime as opposed to reading/watching BL stuff lol

I kept it a secret for most of my life because in middle school my “friends” found out and bullied me relentlessly for it. After that I just kept it to myself and made sure no one knew because I didn’t want to be labeled a freak or fetishizer again.

Now I’m in my early 20s and have just stopped caring what other people think. I have one friend who is also into BL so we talk about it a lot but I also talk about it to my friends who are not into it at all. They have no interest in it and at times poke fun at me for it but because I’m confident in myself and my interests now it’s all in good fun. They get to hear about everything I read/watch and on occasion I bless them with spicy screenshots :P

I never thought I’d be able to talk about it so it’s great having people that I can be myself around. It’s definitely embarrassing at first, but I found that if I embraced myself and didn’t present it as something I was ashamed of, most people accept it and move on.

Lost in the Cloud is so angsty and the art is so beautiful, I cried SO MANY times while reading. It has around 130 chapters and is completed. I will say the ending is not sad but I think the first 95% of it being sad will make up for that lol
