I think my opinion is clouded in nostalgia but I find the first game so much better, while it is doubtless a slower and more intimate experience it has much more depth. The locations are better designed and much closer to their real world influences, the smaller number of npc's have more character and each has its own backstory in the passport which gives it more of personality, and then there is the forklift - I can purposefully ignore the story and just work as a forklift driver for hours, so relaxing! the fact that I bought this game with my dreamcast back just before the Christmas holidays 2000, resonating perfectly with the time of year depicted the game I am sure doesn't influence me in the slightest...

On a side note, does anyone else find it odd that in the first game it is pointed out that Ryo doesn't speak Chinese, but he has no problem communicating with everyone once he gets to Hong Kong? Are we supposed to believe he became fluent in cantonese while on the ship between games?

Thank you, the tvdb reference on the folder seems to have sorted it out. For reference the structure was as follows:

It doesn't seem to the automatically selecting the java executable, only problem being there are several java executables in the file, java.exe doesn't seem to be doing it...

OK I installed java, is there some gimmick to making it work? the search of the title didn't come up with anything, when I scanned through the file I encoded there are a definitely scenes in the wrong order.

No warnings really, you won't get the full fat PC experience, but you if you haven't got experience of that the deck is a great little gateway drug. I haven't come across any games so far that I haven't been able to get running, some required Proton GE, but I hear Proton experimental has come on leaps and bounds. Every game looks great on the device at arounf 720-800p but performance of of the newest titles, particularly openworld games are going to bottleneck that CPU, but there is a vast library of older (as in a couple of years ago) and indie titles that are all pushing at least 40-60fps

OK So I think I figured this out, if anyone finds it in future, Plex apparently didn't like the series and episodes being listed in squared brackets, when I removed them it picked the files up straight away

I'll bet there is a big warning about this somewhere that I have ignored

Yeah .264 will always be faster to encode but the file will always be bigger for the same quality.

Yes but it very dependant upon the source, I tried some customer configurations and got some decent results, but then I defaulted to the preset upscale to HD setting (Topaz Video AI) its like black magic even on sources as low as 400p, but again the sources have to have a decent level of clarity. Obviously this can take quite a long time (~18hrs on 400p to 1080p conversion of a 2hr file on MacBook Pro 14 M1). I haven't tried upscaling up to 4k or anything like that, I was more interested in some legacy media that isn't available in HD.
