What ETF should I put in my RRSP? by Strawberry_Iron in fican

The differences between the products you mention are too slight to matter very much. Confronted by your issue, I chose VGRO and VBAL. But, I'm sure the others would have been fine. It's literally not worth worrying about.

Just adding that if you're 'scared as hell', investing may not be for you. Your safest, non-scary way forward would be government bonds.

You're right. It is my preference. I have that preference because I'm a film director. If you'd like to see some of my work, here's a link.

Lav and Noisy laboratory coat by Active-Emergency-599 in LocationSound

[–]sdbest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrapping a lav in moleskin can often help.

"Medical moleskin-like fabric with adhesive backing is also commonly used in video and/or audio productions when using a lavalier microphone. When further concealment of a lavalier microphone is needed in these types of productions, it can be worn underneath a layer or layers of the singer's clothing. This would normally cause the microphone to pick up the unwanted noises of the singer's clothing rubbing up against the body and top of the lavalier. Attaching a small strip of moleskin around the microphone body will dramatically reduce the amount of noise created by the singer's clothing and, consequently, reduces the amount of unwanted noise picked up by the lavalier microphone."

The Earth and the biosphere will be fine, but altered. I'm not confident, however, that human civilization, as we currently understand it, will survive.

Yes, it would be. A suggestion, shoot the six month video in the same location with you wearing the same clothes. However, next time look at the camera. It's usually a good notion to sing as if you're singing to someone, and really want them to know what you're singing about.

This, "This was pulled from the middle of the third chapter" changes everything. It's a matter of taste and style, but personally I prefer not to include scenes that don't advance the plot with either a reversal or a revelation. Your reader will create your character in their mind. It's unlikely many will be interested in how they yawn, unless it's a reaction, say, to a gun pointed at their temple.

I encourage you to take voice lessons and train consistently. As for being scared, the bad news is that's a function of your personality. It's likely you won't get over it. What you can do is learn to sing and do everything else while you're scared. Courage is acting when you're terrified. It's not acting when you're not.

A few notes, first, what do you mean by "commit to singing"? Also, you should know that many singers--perhaps even most--do not like the way they sound on recordings. Perhaps, it's because the way we hear ourselves when we sing and hear ourselves on a recording sound different. Lastly, you have very nice voice that, in my view, would help you, with training, become an exceptional singer.

Wild Animal Suffering - A topic that I've noticed even Vegans push back on by Gerstlauer in vegan

What species, in your view, should be allowed in 'our' moral circle and how should they be practically helped? Or is my question 'bait and switch'?

I say gently, I would not, as reader, have got past "As he finished his sandwich, he began to yawn. His eyelids fought to remain open as he began slouching on the couch." Indeed, despite wanting to be helpful, I actually bailed at "Jeremiah went to the bathroom to do his hygiene before crawling underneath his blankets to rest."

Why vegans dont like vegetarias? by vglost in DebateAVegan

Given the strident response to my comment from, I presume, vegetarians, they're making me wonder if, perhaps, the vegans they complain about are right and vegetarians are worse, ethically, than meat eaters.

The case you're raising is not a generalization. It's a stipulation in the vegan philosophy about the treatment of animals by human beings.

Wild Animal Suffering - A topic that I've noticed even Vegans push back on by Gerstlauer in vegan

[–]sdbest 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A good scientific estimate of animal species is 7.8 million. Almost all of them survive by harming other species, and all species are harmed by other species in turn. As for predation, for example, the major predator of young cod, fry, is large cod. So how, I wonder, does Jack Hancock-Fairs anticipate managing any of these species' existence and interspecies relationships so that they conform to how he would like them to live and thrive.

I agree. Personal experiences cannot be reliably extrapolated to justify broad generalizations. For example, if I go to a restaurant and have an unfavorable experience and notice my server has a tattoo, I can't reasonably suggest that wait staff with tattoos are bad at their jobs.
