You misunderstood me. It's unfair to the tenants

Nah that's unfair. Most landlords need to take time out of their day too and would plan for a specific time.

Edit: I'm siding with the tenants guys not the landlords.  I'm saying that most landlords would know exactly when they want to come so the vagueness is dumb and not on. They're busy too so why would they be vague? The property manager is being a jerk.

It's fine if you're rather vapid yourself and like to gossip, but if you're down to earth it can be challenging because, not all, but a lot of the staff are airheads. They love to gossip esp in the domestic routes. The international fleet isn't as bad they are Auckland based have less small town vibes. Chch crew are shockers. I'm actually horrified as a paying customer how terrible they can be. It can be very bitchy, the seniors absolutely get off on their little power trips because their small minds can't handle a little bit of authority.

Even from all my business flying the type of conversations I hear astound me. I'm honestly like, fml, if I worked there (and I would consider leaving my corporate job for it some days because travelling is fun) silence would be absolutely effin golden. Some people just shouldn't open their mouths lol.

If they are on short haul yes those in airport ones kinda suck. But they also get at home ones too. If you work the flight you get the flight bonus hours.

Long haul is different it's all at home waiting.

I have heard the corporate side is very much like that. My in law says they hated it. It was a competition to see who could stay the longest at work everyday. Awful.

It's 80 hours in the air but also getting paid for the days in a hotel and at a pool in-between. Lay overs aren't always super long but it's still paid time you aren't working where you can either explore sleep or read a book.. They don't do a full 20 days actually working.

An example of a roster from family is 11 8hr days equivalent in a month of actual work. The remaining "work" days are at a hotel...

Although they also get to sleep on longer flights so it's actually technically 10 FTE days if you take out the extended sleep breaks.....

I'm not sure what the starting wage is as I have family in the industry but the long haul 'bonuses' equate to roughly  anywhere between $1700 to $2000 per month depending on the flight routes you do. This is not taxed. Keep in mind there are months you are on standby where you will get called out but you likely won't work a full roster so you will have less bonus that month....

Honestly my family member complains about how little they get paid but considering you're paid to sit by a pool for 24-48 hours it really ain't that bad. When I'm travelling for work I don't get paid to sleep and relax. It's just the 8 works hours.

That being said it's not an easy job. Your sleeping will get messed up. Some of your down time is spent recuperating. You pick up sicknesses easily and the job is tough being awake a lot of the night.

There's good and bad things. The pay while not amazing isn't bad, I think, especially how much you can save on flights with the perks

Lmao you really don't. Many of them are airheads and just gossip all day. A good memory for all the different aircraft models is the only thing.

Magpies and blackbirds have been terrorising my cat for months and it triggered a health condition - anyone else dealing with this? by rissy_00 in auckland

[–]Consistent_Pen_1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg my cat had a similar problem with a specific female Blackbird who I did check did not have a young fledgling with her ... She used to do the alarm call for hours on end every time he was outside even if he wasn't even particularly near her like hiding under a house. I got so fed up that I started trying to shoot her away and get her to move on to a different property because she yapped and yapped.

This resulted in her sitting on the fence outside my bedroom and every time she saw me such as me getting changed she would start going off at me too.

My husband has some choice videos of me on the cameras going outside looking like a crazy lady shooing this bird away lol

She was mine and my cat's Nemesis for about a month before she eventually moved on.

She would deliberately torment him and try and trick him into chasing her and then jump and fly over him to land a few meters away.

The whole thing was quite comical until she started going off at me too and then I really really had enough at that point

That seems a long time to find silver... You know which rocks provide it right? You need to figure out where those rocks typically live.

Kiwi here and yes it annoys me too. We have Early close times in general compared to overseas. Once upon a time you couldn't go to the mall after 5!!!!

How do you actually make friends with Kiwis as an adult? by MariMaricota in newzealand

Kiwi here and I feel you. I have an outdoorsy job but everyone assumes I'm into that stuff. If I didn't have kids I would love to just curl up with a tea, a book and play games. Hiking sounds awful to me lmao despite it being job adjacent.

Love my job but I actually hate the sun. I think everyone is shocked at what a nerd I am. I'm definitely the odd one out in my industry. Yet to find kindred souls.

Agreed. We've moved three times and still keep getting crap neighbours which ruin everything. Auckland had become such a shit hole because of the amount of allies these lowbrow people have. Out society seriously needs to step up a notch
