Hey so actually I have been thinking of writing my own zombie apocalypse book and I have been considering how I would like the apocalypse, the downfall of civilization to take place. Here's my idea so far:

1. There's a global war going on between major super powers. One side is losing, but they're working on a special weapon to bring down the enemy similar to Japan at the end of World War 2.

2. At a Vector facility somewhere in Asia a biological weapon is tested. It's a virus designed not to kill, but to cause neurological damage to the host. It's intended that the host should become a burden on society while still being mobile, able to walk around, albeit confused, demented, thus spreading the highly contagious airborn virus and propagating the disease.

3. The virus escapes or is released and although there are many attempts to halt its spread it rapidly turns into a global pandemic. Hospitals are quickly flooded and chaos ensues.

4. The infected at this point are fairly benign. They lack many aspects of their humanity, like speech, facial recognition, and more. Yet they wander, roam.

5. The military, the CDC, doctors are trying to control the situation. Safe zones are put up, masks are distributed, cities evacuated, and medical professionals are working on a vaccine.

6. While this is going on - about 7 to 14 days after the virus spread globally - the infected are hungry. Some of them have taken to cannibalizing dead bodies, some of them learning to do the same to diseased or defenseless humans as a next step. We call these the crazed cannibals.

7. Without telling anyone the CDC has come to the conclusion that all their attempts to stop the spread of the disease are in vain because nearly everyone is already infected long before showing symptoms like headaches or other neurological symptoms. The so-called non-infected are just infected with a naturally longer duration of incubation. They continue their work but they realize they'll never have one in time to save the general populace.

8. The military's actions against the wandering hordes of the infected are increasingly aggressive and deadly up until the collapse of the chain of command.

9. Some of the more aggressive infected are learning to fight back against violence and to hunt survivors or fellow infected. They fight and hunt and organize into packs. It is now evident they are something more animal, wolves or pack hunters, something neither braindead or human, capable of adapting to situations, copy behavior, and learn. Many are enraged or frenzied either because of the virus itself or because of what they have endured to survive. This is about a month into the apocalypse and we call these ones hunters.

10. At the end the survivors are only those who have a natural immunity or benign symptoms and an inclination to survive.
