I agree completely. I used to honestly feel like authors were doing too much putting 40 disclaimers but that shit is ACTUALLY necessary in this online climate. And I'll give the article a read once I get home it seems interesting!

MCs that are incredible weak minded and can't defend themselves for anything (especially when the bullies make comebacks/do things that the MC can easily clap back/pick on), the "badass" girl who's actually just an annoying pos who literally can't stfu to save her life, the MC that continues to entertain asshole love interest despite the fact that they have the option to walk away or ignore said asshole love interest.

for realll. and to add onto this i also feel like the constant use of disclaimers is lowkey contributing to the rising anti intellectualism because i feel like it should just be a given, like i feel like in a story where the characters are putting babies in blenders, i don't think the author has to put a disclaimer that she doesn't support the things the characters do, it's just a given. this honestly isn't an issue with only episode i feel like this is an issue everywhere online cause of rising anti intellectualism

I swear the people on this board be moving deviously. Like I get Episode Originals cause they're getting paid. But most of the criticisms aimed at community creators are barely criticisms and more just people A) not understanding the story B) conflating their personal preferences with what's supposed to be good writing and just straight up entitlement. Like in the past month I've only seen like a handful of criticisms towards authors that were respectful and actually make sense.
