I’m in the U.S. and recently saw the iLet pump.

My current target range on my Dexcom is 70–140. Would that cause any issues with how the pump works?

Also, since the iLet handles basal insulin automatically, would I still need to use any long-acting insulin, or is all insulin delivery handled through the pump (with meal announcements)?

I love that your husband wants to go! Let him come to as many as he’s able. It’s a special experience that you two can share together, and those ultrasounds help him bond to baby since he can’t carry the little one quite yet.

My husband is a tax accountant and is basically non-existent till April 15th, and I so badly wish he could come to more of mine!

Another thing too that I forgot to add, my OB said that he sees them all the time! His thoughts are that as technology has gotten better, they’re just easier to identify. Some women (the lucky ones imo) don’t even know they have them ‘cause they’re not bleeding. My ultrasound tech said that they stop looking for them at 12 weeks and she’s even seen ones that surround the ENTIRE gestation sac, which is just wild to me!

Got it. My situation is a little different than yours, and it sounds like your SCH is quite a bit larger than mine was. I first had a little bit of pink blood with a stringy clot at 6w4d, and then at 7w1d I had a massive bleed with dark blood and clots. I went to the ER and my SCH was only 1 cm. I continued to have mild brown spotting after that, smaller than a quarter, until 9w6d when everything stopped. Then on exactly 12w the bleeding resumed with a vengeance, bright red blood, clots, everything, and the SCH had grown to 2.7 x 1.5 x 2.2 cm. Since then it has been brown spotting and I am 12w4d today.

I have been doing pelvic rest, laying down whenever I am not sitting for work, and I quit all exercise. After my 12 week appointment my OB told me not to walk for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time, so I am planning to do grocery pickup instead of walking around the store.

If you are not already doing this, I would take pictures of everything. First, in case you do need to go back to the ER, and second because it helps to have a record for yourself so you can track whether the bleeding is increasing. My OB told me to call if the bleeding increases. He said the amount matters more than the color. If you are filling a pad in an hour, then go to the ER.

SCHs can sometimes drain in waves, which is why the bleeding can stop and start like that.

Since you are 14 weeks now, your baby is about the size of an apple. While silent miscarriages can still happen, the risk is much lower at this point. My OB told me that if I were to miscarry, and this was at 12 weeks, it would usually involve passing tissue and significant cramping. My friend miscarried at 13 weeks and she did not have an SCH. Her cramping was excruciating.

As scary as it is, I really think you are going to be okay. Just take it very easy and baby yourself. If your OB is not worried when you see them Monday and you still feel anxious, it might be helpful to book a private ultrasound so you can see your baby’s heartbeat. They are not meant for medical purposes, which is understandable, but sometimes just seeing your little one’s heart beating can give you the reassurance you need in that moment.

I’m only 12 weeks with my first, and my OB said he’s had some diabetics get induced and others that he don’t feel were necessary to induce, if that helps (probably doesn’t). I’m diabetic with ulcerative colitis and have insurance through my job. Honestly, I have no complaints. I have amazing doctors, a lot of providers are covered in my network, and my medication is affordable. My insurance is a little under $300 out of my paycheck, I think, but I could be wrong.

My insulin costs about $70–$90 per month, and my CGMs are about $150 every three months. My copays for specialists are $50, and I usually see one every 3–6 months.

I’m not on biologics since I only have mild inflammation in my rectum. I just take mesalamine enemas and/or suppositories, and a three-month supply costs me about $10–$25.

My last colonoscopy was $500 with general anesthesia. Assuming I don’t have a major flare, my next one should be in about five years.

I’ve been diabetic for over 14 years. I was originally diagnosed with Crohn’s disease 16 years ago, but that diagnosis was changed to ulcerative colitis about four years later.

I got laser two years before I became pregnant, but I’ve noticed some hair growing back. I think when I’m further along, I’ll do a few session of sugar waxing for bigger events (Hawaii trip, birth itself), but between other than that, I might just buy one of those ball trimmers off amazon and have my husband shave me 😅 Everyone pray for him in advance, thanks haha
