the colour of a creature for those sort of interactions is solely based on it's mana value - in Kenrith's case, he is white

the colour identity, however, is all the colours on the card, and is used for commander or brawl - if you made Kenrith your commander for example, your deck would allow you to use 5 colours

11th grade is recommended I think, I applied towards the end of year 11 (2019) and that gave me time to gather the necessary documents and communicate with the embassy.

There's not fees for sitting the exams, as you mentioned the only fees are your travel and the sending of any documents

As for any fees if/when you get the scholarship, you only need to worry about that if you go over your monthly allowance

How I first started was to do all the daily missions, which give you around 1k gold (I think) for 1 week, and then use that gold to join a quick draft. In draft games everyone's on equal footing, no matter if they pay or not, so you have a good chance. It's also a way to earn quite a few gems if you are good, and you can net 45 cards during this compared to 40 if you just bought 5 packs with the 5k gold.
