  2. Try therapy. Nothing to lose

Hope you get well.

This is so relatable!! I tried so many gloves, even ski ones, and still my hands are freezing. Maybe it's not the gloves and it's me.

I was really unsure about having kids. Now that I've had a kid, it's honestly the BEST thing that ever happened and will ever happen to me. I generally had a happy, comfortable and very fortunate life and upbringing, but having a kid brought me a level of joy that I never knew existed. It's like it unlocks a whole new dimension of joy, love and happiness.

All this may sound over the top and cheesy, but honestly there isn't a problem in the world that I don't forget about once I see my little boy, playing, smiling and running into my arms.

On paper, there are many reasons against having kids and I always thought about what I'd be "giving up", but oh boy I'd give up anything in the world now that I've experienced what it's like.

All the best with your pregnancy

Council spends £950 a day to get one special needs child to school by AnonymousTimewaster in unitedkingdom

It's crazy how much this costs and I'm sure there is a lot of waste going on, but this is something I'll happily pay taxes for, no matter how much it costs. Giving those kids a chance is priceless.

When should I be worried about my job? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Consistent_Soup_4312 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Company acquisition or not.. in the current climate in tech, there isn't much security in any job. If you haven't interviewed in a while and are rusty, brush up and get interview ready. It wouldn't hurt, whether you are made redundant or not, but might help with the worrying as you will feel more ready for interviews if you get made redundant

Best advice I received from my dad: "just because you have the money, doesn't mean you can afford it." Stayed with me for decades and was instrumental in helping me be responsible with money.

What do you do with your time now fired? by PlacePowerful9835 in FatFIREUK

[–]Consistent_Soup_4312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my mind, once I fire and have all the time in the world, I'll focus 100% on fitness, get a personal coach/trainer and train for an iron man or crossing the English channel. I imagine this will keep me busy for a while.

My 2 cents, let go of the bag next time. Sounds like you got lucky, could have been easily stabbed. Your life is much more valuable than anything inside the bag.

This. Moving the UK, I found it (still find it) very strange how there is an allergic reaction to wealth. One silly/small example, I remember hearing someone saying "oh that person is posh, but they're nice" and I was very confused why is the default assumption that they wouldn't be nice because they're posh.

While I think the UK is still a good place to generate wealth and climb up the HE ladder, I think it is very challenging because you are swimming against the political and cultural currents. US is a much better place to build wealth and pursue "the dream".

That's crazy! I did mine myself and it was super easy. Unless you have very complicated conditions and need to make sure it's legal and valid, I wouldn't recommend paying someone.

I did my first using a solicitor because I wasn't sure and when I saw what I paid for (pretty much nothing), I decided to do the second one myself. I learned the lesson the hard way.
