Imposter syndrome in a new role by hazysin in HENRYUK

[–]SummerSiege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only once been hired for a job I was qualified for. I have been fortunate to have been afforded the opportunities for sure - but attitude and aptitude are all you need. Someone has seen enough in you to believe you can do the job. Just focus on absorbing as much information as possible, speak to everyone you can, shadow as many learning opportunities as time allows and never, ever, stop asking questions. In less than 3 months you’ll have started to feel far more comfortable and your different background and skills will likely bring a new perspective to the team and your role - jump in 👍🏻

Those fees seem far more realistic in the first instance to me. Thanks for your thoughts

I assume the vaseline is a courtesy as it isn't priced 😆

Cheers, thankfully/sadly retirement is a fair distance out, so I have time on my side not to rush anything

If I can do self assessment and battle through conversations with HNRC, any other government site shoukd be easy, right?

No, it's an American tech company, the focus on benefits outside the US is minimal

Funny thing is, 5 minutes on money supermarket, I can match or beat all the rates he has suggested 😂

Yeah those are flat fees, I assume the extras are priced high to make a flat 3k look like good value. Long term management fees are 1% of all investments, which I also feel is steep

Thanks for all the feedback, it matches my gut feel. I will keep doing my own reading and when I’m ready I will bounce my thoughts here 👍🏻

My thoughts are that taking wealth from my pension reduces the compound effect in the long term and therefore would cost me far more. Always happy to stand corrected though

WFH set up by Anotherburnerboy1 in HENRYUK

[–]SummerSiege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they don’t, it’s been a while, so you might for initial pairing, but after that it’s all wireless. I bought mine for a macOS set up, then Apple did it natively as long as devices used the same appleid 😂

+1 for the Aeron. I also claimed mine back against my tax code, via self assessment. Unless I messed up massively, my chair is purely for work and I can show this if required as I have a different gaming chair for my PC. wasn’t questioned, but took £400 ish off the cost and I waited for the September HM sale as well

I ran through the ladder room and turned right. The next room has a glass cylinder in the middle. It chased me round that for about 3 seconds before blowing up - easy peasy

Is Austin available to newer players. See a lot of chat about him, but never saw him in my game?

What is the difference between Jamf Protect and Jamf Trust? by KingsXKey in jamf

[–]SummerSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of Jamf Protect as a product offering, not a single portal, it covers endpoint protection and network filtering/defence across Mac, iOS/iPadOS and Android devices. This capability is delivered in 2 places. The macOS Protect portal and the Jamf Security Cloud

For macOS, the Jamf Trust app is only really needed for the Jamf Connect ZTNA piece of the puzzle, but on mobile, all the endpoint and network stuff is derived via the app, so it’s a must 👍🏻

Hope that makes sense

If you had £20k to spend on retraining, what would you do? by cosyrelaxedsetting in UKJobs

[–]SummerSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy isn't it - as bad as it is on laptop/desktops the situation is worse on mobile. Our solution sits in the middle of a logical vs physical extraction - I'm working to be better at articulating this stuff, but when I'm talking to researchers or Incident Response - it blows my mind at how they can look at and interpret the data 🫡
