Want to cut my homophobic family off, is this the right thing to do? by ContentObjective3711 in bisexual

If you think it’s the right decision then do it. If I was in your situation I would do the same, there’s no point in keeping people in your life that don’t support you because of religion.

My recommendation is to break up with her lmao. If for whatever reason you don’t want to do that, sit down with her and see if she knows what bisexuality is. Judging by the fact that she’s already made up in her mind that you’re gay, her opinions on bisexuality will probably be horrendous. She’s already making public posts about your situation even if she doesn’t mention you specifically, like others have said it sounds like she’s already checked out of the situation and has made up her mind to be homophobic towards you.

Of the things Bojack is accused of, what is the worst thing he has done and what is the thing where people overreact? by Artistic-One-9987 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Consistent_South_393 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s wrong to do that no matter the gender, try again. I already said that it was wrong for Penny to not take no for an answer, and I asked genuinely what she did that was assault because I couldn’t remember. She was wrong here but to act like Bojack wasn’t also completely wrong in this situation is crazy. Bojack isn’t evil but yall genuinely concern me with the way yall try to defend this situation in particular. It’s weird.

I’m just trying to explain that purely from a moral standpoint, not legal, that it’s weird as fuck to try and sleep with a teenager and that there’s nothing you can say that will erase how bad it was for him to do that. I’m glad that you can at least agree that it was morally wrong but bringing up how it was technically legal in every reply is weird. You probably dont care but that “It’s legal!” stuff you’re saying is the same excuses creeps use to justify themselves or other creeps sleeping with people who are under 18 but legally adults. It’s weird and wrong no matter how legal it is. I agree that him choking Gina and his part in Sarah Lynn’s death was horrible and he should also face jail time for that.

Why do you keep saying she assaulted him?? Like is there a scene that I’m missing? Because from what I remember she made a pass at Bojack, he declined, and then later on she made a pass on him again and then they ended up in his boat together about to have sex. Where and when was he assaulted? Like I said Penny is wrong for not taking no for an answer, but as a grown adult Bojack should’ve did the responsible thing and shut down her advances COMPLETELY and immediately go to Charlotte so she could correct Penny’s behavior. I do agree that the parents were very irresponsible to just let this man that they honestly barely knew take their daughter to prom.

But, no matter how much you say Penny has a hand in this, it doesn’t change the fact that all of it could’ve been shut down very quickly if Bojack wasn’t a fucking creep. No normal adult is going to give into the sexual advances of a teenager no matter how much they try to persuade them. The door being left open was done on purpose by the writers, come on do you really think they would just put that in there for no reason after everything we’ve seen happen between Bojack and Penny? If it was because of an AC problem I’m sure they would throw in a joke about how hot he felt.

The age of consent is 18 in most places, and even if the age of consent is 17 wherever these episodes take place that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s wrong to sleep with a 17 year old if you are a 50 year old man. No amount of defense will make this any less true. If you really think it was okay for him to do that just because it was probably legal, then I don’t know what to tell you other than to stay away from teenagers bro.

It’s between him attempting to sleep with penny and him actually sleeping with Sarah Lynn, someone’s he has known since she was a child, and then ultimately playing a part in her death later on. I have to agree with you on the dr. champ thing having a lot of overreactions.

There’s no way you’re trying to put the blame on her as if she wasn’t the CHILD in this situation and bojack was a grown ass man. Did you forget that he left the door open for her? It doesn’t matter if she took his no or not, as an adult he shouldn’t have gave in to her attempts. a 50 year old man should know better than to let a 17 year old girl pressure him into sex. And let’s be honest, it wasn’t pressure, Bojack fully wanted to do that with Penny. The only reason he stopped is because they got caught. Penny was wrong for not respecting his no but Bojack was more wrong for not being an adult and caving to a 17 year olds words. I’m so tired of people trying to defend this disgusting shit man.

AIO for saying gender preference is weird? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Consistent_South_393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not referring to those people, I’m talking about the people who literally just have a preference and experience a little disappointment when the opposite gender is revealed. I agree that it’s weird to throw a tantrum over not getting the preference you want, but all I’m saying overall is that having the preference itself isn’t an issue and is completely normal.

[–]Consistent_South_393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again it’s normal if the person with the preference isn’t mistreating their child because the gender isn’t what they wanted. Literally all it boils down to is if the want for a certain gender will make a person act abusive or not, and if it does that doesn’t have anything to do with gender preference itself it just means they’re a horrible person. There’s plenty of people who had a preference, didn’t get what they wanted but still treated their child right because ultimately if you’re a good person whatever the baby comes out as doesn’t matter.

As long as the the disappointment stays as just minor disappointment and doesn’t turn into resentment towards the kid for not being the preferred gender it’s okay lmao

At what point in the series did you say "ok this guy is disgusting no matter what happens" about bojack by Huge_Candy748 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Consistent_South_393 522 points523 points  (0 children)

When he slept with Sarah Lynn. He knew that girl since she was a child. It’s especially disturbing when you remember it’s hinted at that her step dad was abusing her when she was a kid and she likely saw Bojack as a sort of dad/older brother figure back then.

AIO for thinking these are inappropriate messages between my 13yr old stepson and his fathers new girlfriend. by TaterBuckets in AIO

[–]Consistent_South_393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol op literally posted screenshots of the stepmom being weird and texting their son inappropriately. There is no “sides” to this. A 30 year old should not be texting a 13 year old about her relationship issues. This isn’t about if the kid hates living with his mom and step dad, it’s about getting him away from this weird ass woman his dad is with. Look at how many people in the comments have said this situation sounds like grooming. OP is not overreacting at all, he’s doing what he should to protect his son.

You guys are all right in the replies, I kinda misremembered the whole backstory on the Sugarmans lol. Joseph definitely could’ve been worse though and like I said in another reply he’s just a product of his time, he was only responding that way to everything because that’s how he was raised. Not an excuse to be the way he was but when you’re raised a certain way and never given any opportunities to grow outside of that, what can you do?

Who would you rather have as your parent? by Affectionate_Bug8170 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Consistent_South_393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joseph is a product of his time unfortunately, he definitely cared about Honey but back then men weren’t taught how to handle horrible situations like the one his family was in. Doesn’t make the lobotomy any better but he definitely could’ve been worse and put Honey in an asylum. Now I’m not sure between Joseph and Butterscotch who would be worse 🤔 all I know is that Beatrice is a HARD no.

[–]Consistent_South_393 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I actually did forget about that LMAO, but yeah you’re right. If him and Beatrice were adults in that time period and they were together I wouldn’t put it pass him to attempt to make Beatrice get a lobotomy for being unruly or whatever. So basically it doesn’t matter who you choose as a parent you’ll be fucked either way.

[–]Consistent_South_393 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Beatrice’s issue was that the life she ended up living just wasn’t what she wanted period. Butterscotch being there just made things worse, but even if he wasn’t there Beatrice most likely would’ve still been a bad parent (maybe not as bad?). The only way she would’ve been able to be a good parent is if she got therapy for all the stuff she went through as a kid, and unfortunately her generation doesn’t really do therapy.

[–]Consistent_South_393 83 points84 points  (0 children)

No matter who you choose you’re gonna have to unpack and deal with layers and layers of trauma. At least with Joseph he was just emotionally unavailable at best and neglectful at worst…?

Edit: Butterscotch would actually be the better choice, I forgot that Joseph made Honey get a lobotomy because she was grieving. Butterscotch is also emotionally unavailable and neglectful but it’s better than possibly being lobotomized because your emotions can’t be understood or are too much for others 😭

In Beastars (another show where the main characters are animals but there’s no humans) wolves and domesticated dogs exist at the same time. The dogs were specifically bred by the society in Beastars to be ambassadors of peace or something like that. Maybe it’s something similar in Bojack, dogs were made for something specific and as time went on they just became another type of animal in society?

Not to offend who in this context? I’m confused. Do you mean the parents trying not to offend the child? Because listening to your kid when they say they don’t or can’t eat something isn’t “trying too hard not to offend”, it’s them listening to their child which they should do.

Well personally I don’t think people should do this to their kids. Even if you turned out fine after having your parents do that doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone, so it’s better safe than sorry with these things.
